August Sleevers, Can You Hear Me?

Recommended Posts

I started my journey at 238. On the day of my surgery, August 6, I was at 218. Now I'm at 190. I want to be at 135.

Here are a few of my observations since surgery 3 and a half months ago:

1.) Sometimes, after I eat, I don't really throw up, it's more like an excess of saliva and mucus combined.

2.) For me, dinner is the worst meal to figure out. That's when I tend to overeat. Then, I feel sick. I have to take 25 minutes or so to myself to recover from the stomach cramps or the urge to/ or process of vomiting.

3.) 1 bite can make the difference between feeling okay and not okay.

4.) No real shock here.... I can't eat much at all. It surprises me that I feel as good as I do because I eat so little.

5.) I have more energy overall, but when I crater, I crater!

6.) Pooping happens a LOT less frequently, but when I gotta go, I gotta go.

7.) Others see a difference, but I haven't internalized it yet.

8.) None of my old clothes fit.

9.) New clothes cost money- duh! But it's intriguing/fascinating to shop in a trendy store where skinny women shop. I can actually wear some of that stuff now. Incredible!

10.) Taking meds is harder than it used to be. I have to think about coordinating eating or drinking with meds. I have on occasion made myself sick with my meds being that one bite too many.

11.) The adjustments are daily and include my family learning how to accommodate to the new diet and proportions. They are starting to figure out that we eat to live; we don't live to eat.

12.). This ain't easy, but it's worth it.

I hear ya loud and clear! You are doing an awesome job so far. This journey is amazing and it is a mind trip for me. I actually get upset sometimes that I cannot eat large portions. I am becoming a food hoarder. I have freezer bags of leftover food in the freezer. There is one less person eating and that's me. I am afraid to waste good food and in the freezer it goes. My family eat what they want and I just make sure that I can get what I need and want. I can not wait to get to 190! I do have a probelm coordinationg my meds as well. My BP meds will make me sick if I take them on an empty stomach. So, I have to leave enough room or wait like 30 minutes to take them. It is ironic because that was one of my main reasons of the WLS. To get off these dreaded BP meds. I got so tired of taking these meds and they still are here. I schedued an appointment with my PCP to followup with my BP. But I am much happier! I can exercise with my arthritis and it is not an issue. I actually like me! I even asked my hubby to get me a mirror. I never had a mirror in my house other than the bathroom mirror. I still have 81 pounds to go and I know it will take dedication and hard work. I will do my best and I have no regrets at all.

Oh, and my hubby told me that I don't snore anymore. Could that mean my sleep apnea is gone?

Later August Losers!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
