Hi everyone. I'm on my way to my follow up appointment with my surgeon. Hopefully they will take out some of the staples today! I would be surprised if they took them all out because the large incision was bleeding on Wednesday. I still can't believe how many staples there are. Oh well, wish me luck! I hope everyone has a pain free and healing day!

xoxo

Kim

Thank for the heads up on the mash potatoes. I will be careful. The apple sauce didn't feel fantastic last night. I think it's still too sweet. I felt a warmth around my belly button that wasn't there before. I went to bed to slow down the passage from stomach to intestines and it worked. I was so scarred that I was developing dumping

I eat a lot of potatoes. I don't have any problems with them. I usually add a tiny bit of broth to them. (or I had some squash Soup that I added a tiny bit of it to them) I guess what I had was just some boiled potatoes, and then I puree them.

Hopefully you'll do alright with them!

Did you use the unsweetened applesauce? I have some, but haven't tried any yet. I was going to add a little cinnamon to it.

I made homemade beef tacos last night. I ate one soft corn tortilla shell taco and it took me about 90 minutes with all the chewing. But no adverse effects as of yet.

I think the pain by one of my incisions is the nerves growing back. I remember that area being really numb afterwards.

I had a cup of cream of potato Soup from Panera yesterday. I picked out any bits of bacon and mashed up the potato. It went down and stayed.

I have the unsweetened apple sauce, and two bits, just did not appeal to me, threw it out, might try adding cinnamon, that is also very good for you. will at least try it. :)

Do you mind if I share a bit of relationship drama, ties in to things here, so there is a point in sharing.

Been having a rough time with my guy friend, we do not have a defined relationship, he cant handle it after two failed marriages. but actions show we are in a "relationship" according to all our friends. But if pushed he will define as friend with benefits.

A married woman he is friends with has made it clear she is interested. He told me he is not into her like that. He did not even see it until she wanted to go out of town with him alone.... DUH!!! They are friends and he sees her during work frequently.

Now the problem, my brain won't let it go. This is mine to mess up if I obsess. I am struggling and being an investigator by trade, it is hard to not do what I know best.

Now had a bad bad day yesterday, in my brain, it would not shut up. Wanted to eat, and eat and comfort myself with food. Shrimp corn chowder and fish tacos, steak and shake, five guys burger they were all calling my name LOUDLY! First time since surgery I have felt that way. But alas, I was good, and got fancy with my pureed, made a soft crab cake and some diced avocado. chewed and chewed, it did the trick, made me feel good about my choice and helped clear my brain.

Has anyone had any issues with plain Water? Almost every time I drink it (usually at room temp), my stomach hurts. Not my pouch, but my intestinal area....I suppose I should stop referring to it as "stomach", lol. It's a crampy feeling that usually subsides after awhile, but it's uncomfortable. I don't know that it makes a difference, but I've been drinking bottled water. Any advice is appreciated!

I am sitting here tearing up over this. I can't tell you how crazy proud I am of you that you did not let that very stressful, mind consuming situation mess up your eating!!! THAT'S WHAT THIS LIFESTYLE CHANGE IS ALL ABOUT! Finding new ways to cope with stress besides food!!! I wish I could bear hug you right now!!!!

With that being said--so sorry you're even having to deal with that! Ugh...I would definitely be the type to obsess about that as well!

I hope I can handle a situation like that as well as you did!!

Yes, I've had the same thing happen. I try and always mix either G-2 Gatorade or apple juice with my water. It goes down much better. So odd! I mentioned it to the PA at my check up Monday and she hadn't heard of it. Weird.

@, I can not drink Water yet either, I have to add crystal light or something like to flavor it. Makes me liquid burp everytime if I don't

I made the family scalloped potatoes and ham the other night. Do you think that would be hard on my pouch if I pureed it?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
