Hi! Warning this is specific and gross.

My bypass was on 10/6 and after 2 nights in the hospital I came home with a drain. It's now 10/12 and Fluid in the drain is still "fruit punch" colored. It's a little bit lighter than it was before- but there's definitely a bit of blood still. And I'm still collecting at least 1-2 oz of liquid a day.

It seems like a lot of liquid for six days out, but I don't know what's normal.

The doc is supposed to take the drain out in 3 days. The drain site itself is clean and discharging a bit everyday. I change the bandages daily and it looks okay. No fever.

Has anyone else had a similar drain experience? Should I be worried?

My doc sends everybody home with a drain for a week. It speeds healing and can provide an early alert if there's a leak.

Mine was removed 10 days out (yesterday). I was draining 1 - 1 1/2 ounces out until 2 days before and it dropped to 1/2 oz. I won't lie, it hurt like a biotch. Take a pain pill before you go. Once it's out, you will feel soooo much better.

It's out! Definitely one of the weirdest sensations of my life when the doc pulled it out. It's such a relief! I didn't realize how much of my discomfort was because of the drain.

Glad I had it and glad it's gone!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
