Hello all, my name is Elizabeth. I was banded the morning of 10/2/14 and am now 5 days out. I went back to work today as an RN doing home health, all went pretty well but I am still sore. I feel like the port was placed right in the bottom of my upper fat roll and I get pressure pushing on it when I sit and sometimes a burning sensations. Has anyone else had this after surgery? The other incisions look and feel fine. I am still having a lot of pressure and gas pain that makes me feel like I can't take a deep breath and sometimes radiates to my left shoulder. Hoping that goes away soon. Any tips or pointers would be greatly welcomed. I feel like with all the swelling and bloating, I weigh more now than prior to the surgery. Also running out of ideas for soft foods to eat lol. I see the doctor tomorrow for my one week follow up, after the first fill, did you then start to see weight loss? Anxious and ready to see a difference, even a small one.

Hi Elizabeth. I had my surgery last February. Have lost almost 50 lbs. The only pain I had was at the port site. Still have it. Doctor is perplexed as to why. So am I. For months I had to wear an abdominal splint that I bought at a pharmacy. It helped a lot. At first I worker it day and night. Then just days and finally I stopped wearing it. I only have pain now when I cough, sneeze, blow my nose... It really hurts. Doctor said he could inject anesthetic into it. I will wait for that until I need it... if I get a virus or something like that. Otherwise, he said he could also inject some steroid to hopefully cut down on any possible inflamation. I could relate to what you wrote so I thought I would share my own experience. I hope your port pain lessens. I couldn't find anyone who had the same problem I've had. That made my experience frustrating!

Almost everyone experiences long term port pain issues. Mine lasted 2 months.

Thanks Karen, I hope your pain eases. Mine is placed right at the bottom of a roll and I think that is adding to this discomfort but today it felt a little better. The gas pain has been the worst

I totally have the same issue!

I called my surgeon to ask if the pain was something gone wrong.. He assured me that's totally normal for most to experience port area pain (the biggest scar on the left). This is due to scar tissue and the stitches holding it in place. It can yank.

I can't sleep on my left side because the scar now is in the middle of my roll lol and instead of being flat it indents along the scar causing pain like a pinching burning pulling pain.

I must admit it is getting better but it's not hopping fast at all.

Hello!!! I'm 5 days post-op and it hasn't been easy. I also had a hernia repaired with my lap band placement so I'm sure that has a major effect on my progress. I haven't been hungry, but the gas pains in my left shoulder have been worse than the incisional pain. Each day is getting better and better, but I'm just feeling drained!(I stopped taking the pain meds post op day 3)

Jojo, ask a pal to karate chop your neck and shoulders a few times a day. And walk a lot. These things helped my shoulder pain immensely. Congrats on your surgery!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
