Another Lez, married (of course not legally since we live in Texas) with 2 kids. But, at least we live in Austin, which is the only blue county in the whole red state.

Gladd I found ya'll

Attach ... it was a very Brady X-mas this year ... LOL:Banane20:

How cute are you two!?

Very nice picture.

How is your weight loss, compared to each other? Do you get competative? It must be nice to be sharing the experience together. Getting slim and hot(ter) at the same time has got to be great fun!

My GF is working on her not very heavy self, she's lost 14 or the 20 she's shooting for, and since I've been dropping pounds rolling around together has been even more fun! :D I never thought I'd have reason to use that smilie!

OH Juli

WE BELIEVE IT OR NOT ARE PRETTY MUCH LOSING THE SAME WEIGHT AMOUNT, SO ITS REALLY AWESOME, WE ARE DOING THIS TOGETHER ALL THE WAY, I CANT WAIT TO GET TO MY GOAL WEIGHT AND WE CAN HAVE HOT SEX AGAIN.............ROFLMAO.......SERIOUSLY, OUR WEIGHT HAS KEPT US FROM GETTING CLOSE LATELY....LOL BUT THE MORE WE LOSE THE CLOSER WE GET...HAHAHAHHAHAHHA. WE HAD OUR SECOND FILL YESTERDAY AND SHE WAS FILLED TO TIGHT, SO THIS MORNING IT WAS BACK TO L.A. TO SEE THE DOCTOR AND OF COARSE OUR APPOINTMENT TIME WAS 10:30....11AM I GOT A CALL FROM HIM, PRETTY MUCH TELLING ME HE WAS ON HIS WAY....LOL.......SO NEEDLESS TO SAY WE GOT OUT OF THERE ABOUT NOON........AHHHHHHH WHAT A STRESSFUL TIRESOME DAY..........

HEHEHEHEHH!

In fact, look what I found to commemorate the occasion: :D (OH Juli, you've got nothing on me now!!)

Try having sex for 3 hours straight..(i usually dont use that word) lol But yeah my partner and I can really get it on, I can wait till she can flip me around an over with nooooooooooo problems......LOL

Hey MGH, My partner and I were banded 3/16/07 3 weeks later we had our first fill......It all depends on the doctor and how you are feeling, My patner and I healed really good, Despite the fact that I had a hernia. But our first fill went fine, Yesterday we had our second, actually only a month after the first . OUR DOCTOR is FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for filling us in! :P Seriously though, how did it go? My appointment for my first fill is July 3 and I'm more than a bit apprehensive about it. DH has had two already and says they're no big deal, but both times he was still sore a day or so afterwards.

Have a safe trip Juli! Don't do anything I can't do yet! :D

Lucy, I would have loved to take two weeks off, but it just wasn't feasible. It's great that you're able to take that time off.

Everyone have a GREAT weekend!

The fills are fine. Nothing bad, and yes I do experiance a little soreness around the port area the dat after, But nothing major.....Everything went ok, Except the doctor filled my partner to tight, last night she couldnt get Water down, NO LIQUID'S were going down, prettty scary, so first thing this moring, WE went back TO L.A. To get her fixed....LOL

Everything is good now.....

Hi Edd & Direct Hit! Glad to have you guys aboard!

Rhonda, how's your partner since the fill adjustment? That must have been terrifying for her. I can't imagine being so restricted as to not be able to even drink Water. :D

Mark, our doc routinely does first fills six weeks post-op. I assumed that was the norm and was actually surprised you weren't getting a fill until July! Don't know if I mentioned it or not, but doc said I can start introducing solids back into my diet. Woo hoo! Real food!! :hungry: I had a half a hamburger (no bun) last night and a few very well cooked brussells sprouts. Yum, yum!

My partner is fine now, she was up all night the night before with acid-reflux, pretty scary for her, and she was sooooooooo tired didnt get any sleep really, but she is ok now....she is resting alot, cause it was quite painful for her...she kept throwing up everything she tried to drink and anything left inside just sat there.........

She is better now, the doc took out a full cc so its all good, thank you for asking..........

I have just been trying to get Water down today, because I got so dehydrated have not had anything to eat, I guess that is a good thing. So next time I will be really careful I will share one bottle of wine not two. lol

Hello Everyone! It is really nice to find a GLBT group (thread) for LapBand folk. I didn't think there was one out there for us. I have just started doing my research, and attended a seminar this week. I really like the thought of having the surgery done. I think I would do it in a heartbeat, but I need to make sure I have the money first. I think the benefits to my health will outweigh any costs. I am 31, 5'11” and 302 lbs and my BMI is 42. I would love to lose the weight so I can do more and get off some of these meds. Anways, I just wanted to drop and thank ya'll for sharing your information on here. Ya'll are a cool and funny bunch.

EDD.....welcome and good luck with your surgery if you get it, you will feel much better and the meds thing will get better, I already feel better after only 2 and a half months after surgery.......SO Hope all goes well with you, Keep us posted......

Eddie, I can't believe you had 1/2 a hamburger . I am so jealous !!!!

Last night was soooo hard. 5 of us went out for dinner - and they didn't have anything that I could eat - except I stole 1/2 of my 3 year old son's ice cream. When I got home I had a Optifast shake. OH YUM !!!

But over the weekend - I've had a couple of beers , which I enjoyed but I had to drink them very slowly - not like before when I just used to inhale them !!!

Hope you had a great time in the new RV over the weekend.

Edd, I'm only 11 days post-op and off one of my three diabetes meds already. I have also cut my insulin by 5 units and will probably drop another 5 within the next couple of days. My blood sugars are now not only completely normal (again, only 11 days post-op!) but any time you're sick or healing they tend to be higher so I foresee coming off the insulin completely within the next month or so. Once I do that, then I'll focus on the blood pressure and cholesterol. But elevated insulin levels (in my case caused by insulin resistance) increase blood pressure and cholesterol so once I'm off the insulin those should start coming down on their own.

Hey Dee, other than the fact that you had a little too much, how did the wine go down? Mark, how about the beer? I have a bottle of bubbly wine that I've been saving for a special occasion, so input from both of you will help me decide if I can give it a shot (I don't really want to open it up and take two sips and have to pour out the rest:eek:).

We're sitting in the motorhome as I'm writing this post. The interior is completely packed up and organized; the basement storage will get done tomorrow. Not that we're particularly religious, but we're resting today. Even though I'm really tired from yesterday, I feel a lot better today just being out of the house...

Hi gang

Looks like everyone has been having a great weekend!

I had some sparkling wine this weekend, and it went down pretty well. I only had one glass.

I've had a couple of mixed drinks and I've had a few glasses of wine since surgery...I agree that I get drunk pretty tipsy pretty quickly...nothing like being a cheap drunk :drum:

Juli

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
