Pre op disappointment

Recommended Posts

I was hoping before my surgery to drop 20lbs. I am about the same weight as when I started this process and so disappointed in myself. A lot of people here before they were banded were able to lose large amounts of weight even though they were not able to keep it off. I have never been able to lose more than 20lbs in the last 15 years. It makes me nervous that maybe I am not disciplined enough for the band and I'm scared of failing at this. Desperately scared.

If there is anyone out there who feels the same or who was subsequently successful post band who is like me I would love to hear from you.

Ironically my surgeon is not a big fan if the sleeve but he has a lap band himself and said if I show up each month and eat slow I should be fine but I'm not sure I'm cut out for this.

My surgery is November 4th! Thanks.

You put WAY too much pressure on yourself. Do you want to know how much weight *I* lost pre-op? 5lbs. The rest of what I've lost to date has been POST-op weight loss. Remember, your body is different than anyone else's. It's unique. ALL of out bodies are unique. None of our bodies react the same way to the same things. Chill out, and stop stressing. It seems to me like you are ready to fail before you've even gotten started. Don't so that to yourself. You can do this.

Daniella, I do not appreciate your SPAM in my inbox. I have reported you to Bariatric Pal with your initial post as it appeared in my email. If we hadn't tried alternatives before surgery, we wouldn't be here. Your input is NOT appreciated.

Your apology is appreciated, but your intentions are misplaced. ALL of us on this forum have tried everything possible before taking the leap of faith into surgery. I've personally spent MORE on weigh loss plans, diets, and programs (Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers included) than I spent on my surgery. You need to realize that those of us in this forum are not doing this for the fun of it, because this is "easy", or because no one has spoken to us about other avenues. We've all BEEN THROUGH HELL with our weight loss journey, and are finally starting to experience something resembling success.

If you really want to HELP people like us, learn a little about what it's like to BE us. Learn what we actually go through before getting here. Learn about how active we already ARE before we follow MEDICAL ADVICE and have these surgeries. Maybe even get a job in a Bariatric Surgeon's office! You are not a doctor. You are a girl who likes to exercise and doesn't have the same issues we do. If you were ever fat, you were lucky enough to find something that worked for YOU.

Do I accept your apology? NO. Because I'm SICK AND TIRED of other people acting like they know more about this journey than I and the other people on this forum do. WE LIVE THIS. You, clearly, don't. To be honest, if I knew how to block you, I'd do so right now. Instead, I ask that you NOT respond to me. Ever.

Cherie...I'm not Daniella! Was this meant for someone else?

My last two posts were intended for a person who has either been removed or who has removed her posts. She was trying to sell us a weight loss something and assumed that those of us on this forum haven't already tried everything we can. In essence, I was defending us.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
