What to bring to the hospital?

Recommended Posts

My surgery is scheduled for October 6 and I'm starting to make a list of stuff to pack for the hospital. Does anyone have suggestions for anything they were glad they had or wished they had with them for the hospital stay?

I brought slippers, pajama bottoms, Chapstick, and a huge help was biotene dry mouth wash- my mouth was so dry for the first few days. I also brought my own soap Shampoo etc but that isn't necessary

Do you know how long you will be in? I was only there 24 hours.. I wore pjs to and from, toothbrush paste, hair brush, phone charger, chap stick and a small pillow to use on my tummy when getting up. Between nurses poking, sleeping and walking it went quick

I brought my phone and charger, iPad, a small toiletry bag and a change of underwear. I wore a hospital gown in the hospital and when I was discharged the next day, wore the same clothes I wore to the hospital the morning before.

I brought an extension cord for my phone charger and was glad I had because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to reach my phone.

I packed too much. I slept almost the whole time besides walking and sipping a bit of Water. I never used my cell phone, never changed until I was discharged, never used my crossword puzzle book etc. the only thing that came in handy was my stuffed animal I brought (from my niece and nephew) and the blankie (from my nephew). I didn't use any of the Water flavoring I brought either.

Not sure why I pack so much, it's not like a mini vaca lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
