Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

Now that all of you are back from the Vegas Bash, and the rest of us Pity Party goers are up off the couch - is anybody willing or interested in participating in an exercise challenge?

I'm not thinking anything drastic - just more than what we're already doing. I think the goal should be for a 'heart healthy' 30 minutes of activity a day, at least 3 days a week. Anything more is a bonus and worth an extra woo-hoo from the group!

Anything counts - weights (Darcy), walking, bike riding (Marie), playing tag with the kids (all the Moms out there), dancing your a** off (Leatha and Lisa).

I know Penni wants to do a 5K here soon, and this would be a way we could all get going with our exercise.

I would love to hear suggestions, comments, any type of feedback.

Do I have any takers?

So, you are a brave man. :devious Do you want to set the parameters of the challenge? (End date, exercise only, pounds lost, whatever?)

My weapon of choice is called the Step Mill -- duhn duhn (that's dramatic music.) It is NOT a stair stepper, it looks like a short escalator-to-nowhere. It kicks butt. Once upon a time I could do 45 minutes on that bugger...puff..puff.... Last time I tried it I nearly died after 5 minutes. I really need to work on my behinder muscles. (Is that a good euphemism, Lis?)

I could hear you shiver in fear, Greg. ;)

Ok Becky,

I'll do the gentlemanly thing here and allow you to set the rules.

Since we are both at the stage where our weight loss should be comparable each month I don't feel I'm taking advantage of you. And since I am already behind and its your rear quarter panels that seem to be your concern I'll just stay here and keep an eye on them and let you know how they are doing. (not being sexist just being concerned). Butt I will pass you up before the end date.

I have just one suggestiion and that is we start on Monday Nov 22 as that is the weight in day. This challenge will help me stay focused while in Vegas.

You pick all the other rules.

You are such a gentleman. How about one month -- from Nov. 22 to Dec. 20. We'll count pounds lost during that time. Will that work for you?

Oh, and thanks so much for watching out for my "back." ;)

Becky and Greg, I love your challenge! Is there anyone who's roughly at the same place I am (70-100 lbs. to go, 1-6 months after banding, 35-55 yrs. old) who'll take up a challenge from me? Oh, hell, I'll challenge anybody! Weigh in on Nov. 22 (the 41st anniversary of the JFK assassination), check in again on Jan. 3 (first Monday of the new year). Only rule is: no fasting or other insane food deprivation. Or, if you want, we can have a straight exercise challenge on the honor system. Come on, you competitive bandsters, dare to try to kick my ass! (Mind you, you've got a big target.)

Note: I've started a new thread for this holiday challenge.

Zoe,

Becky and I would like to extend to you the invotation to join us in our challenge. We will use your time frame and conditions as the ground rules. I will develope a progress chart that I can e-mail back and forth to all and everyone can see the others progress. I like the honor system here also. We all have been lying to ourself for so long about our weight and since we have done something about it I think the process of trying to fool each other is out the door.

Let us know if you accept the invite.

We also welcome anyone else who would like to join us. Becky suggested a new thread for this and we will call it the Holiday Challenge. Let us know

Anyone who joins us and losses one pound is a winner.

And if no other men join I can brag to the guys at work I'm running around with a whole bunch of beautiful ladies LOL ( my wife would kill me if she read the BS i do here....LOL LOL)

Becky -

They have one of these beasts at the gym I belong to.

I don't call it the step mill though - I call it the 'GAUNTLET OF DEATH' !!!!

Even on a whimpy little setting of 3 (out of 20 possible) I can only go 30 minutes (at the very most) before I am so red that the people at the front desk have the phone receiver in their ear and their fingers poised over the push buttons for a quick '911'.

I wanted everyone here on the board to have an idea of how difficult a challenge you've set for yourself.

You go girl!!!!

I will cheer you on from the elliptical trainer - but I hate the step mill.
