Today my grandson is three months old and he is growing at an unreasonable rate...lol Here is my newest Grandchild Tessa Marie born 03/25/2008 6.14 20" and healthy, healthy healthy... The second pic is of the two new ones. Look at the size of Logan....lol three months old and he only fits in 6 - 9 month close. God is GOOD
  2. Another year has gone by and still have you in thoughts and prayes. Hope that Philip has healed from the loss. Keep wtching over us Blossom, we need all the help we can get. Forever in our hearts. Greg
  3. Marimaru, Of course he is cute...Looks just like his Papa....lol TY Kristin1031...I can only imagine, and would probably still not get it right, what it is like to lose a child. Its just not normal progression of life. My heart goes out to you. But I am glad to see your committment to the weight loss. I wish you the best in making the journey back to good health. God Bless everyone.
  4. Darn, Have no idea how time flies like it does. Wow today my youngest child turns 23yrs old. On January 03, 2008 my son and his wife had thier second child, Logan Xavier, Born 8#1oz 21 in. He's a month and a half already and is 14 #'s. Looking into a baby band for him....lol March 21,2008 my oldest daughter is due to have her first child. She is having a girl, Tessa Marie. Well at one time I thought I'd never see my grandkids and now I'm getting piled on...lol. Don't stop I love kids will take as many as I can. Here is Logan:
  5. I have always regretted that. Well if this statement is true then you need to do this for yourself. I think what your planning is great and for the sound of you you really want to do it. It will give you some more incentive to get to that dress you want. And even if you don't so what... You deserve to be happy. It was a wedding that made me get the surgery done. 4 yrs ago this Oct. my oldest son got married and when I saw the pictures I knew that I was out of control. I researched and found the lap band. I knew I'd never see a grandchild if I continued on. I had no "LAP" room to hold a baby. So 3 yrs ago I hand the band put in. And even thought I have not lost as much as I would have liked I know it was not the bands fault. But I am healthier and so much happier. Two yrs ago I got my first Grandchild and have been able to hold her on my lap. AS a matter of fact I have enough room for another one which will be here in Jan. Well it is another wedding that got me re motivated to behave and lose more. I wanted to look good in the Tux I will wear this Friday when My oldest daughter gets married. And more grandkids will be on the way. So get rid of your regret Young Lady have that wedding and Live Happily Ever After. Best wishes to you.
  6. Well soon she will be two. Where did the time go???? Have a daughter getting married in three weeks. maybe next year at this time I'll have another grandchild.
  7. To my friends.....AREN"T YOU GLAD I USE DIAL
  8. I got an e-mail from Patty a few days ago and she is coping. Has her good days and bad ones. Going to visit with her soon and visit Ryan resting place. Those that know him know his passion for motorcycles and his gravestone is a motorcycle.
  9. What ever happened to these places being a "Service Organization".
  10. I am very open about my surgery, especially when people start with "Is that all your going to eat" crap. And when home I will order off regular menu for several reason, One: I agree the kids menu food really isn't good for our kids and not any better for us...Two: Doggie bags help make another meal or two. But when traveling and Doggie Bags are not practical I pull out my card and use it for possible discounts. In Vegas a few years ago I went to a Buffet dinner and I asked the cashier, if I could use my card to purchase a ticket at the kids price. She called a manager and after he looked at the card he allowed me to pay the kid price. I felt every surveillance camera was trained on me.....lol JK but it worked out very well. Next Vegas Visit I tried it again at another Buffet and was told no and the cashier gave me a valid reason. She said that the internet provides a chance people can get these cards for the purpose of reducing the price but eating the large portions. Our waitress who came and got our drink orders and clearing the table of empty dishes had made a comment to me while I was sitting waiting for my son to return. " Your not going up for more". I told her that I had had weight lose surgery and was very content with the small portion I had eaten but I was sure my son would make up what I didn't eat. She opened her book and looked at our tickets she had picked up off the table and said "you should have asked for the Kids price." I said I did but I understood the policy and that I was fine with it and I enjoyed what I was able to eat. A few minutes later one of the floor guys came over and asked me how long I was going to be in Vegas and I told him three more nites. He gave me two free passes for both me and my son for each of the next three nites. We returned for two of the nites because I had to go to the original buffet and support thier Buffet because they allowed me to eat at the Kids Price the year before and this visit also. I will use my card when ever I can and do not hold any ill will to any rest. that turns it down. Just a hint for anyone interested. When you go out to eat and your going to take what is left home. Seperate your food and request the doggie bag first. Only leave on your plate what you will eat while there. remove the temptation of over eating while your waiting, after your full, for the doggie bag. I have never had a problem with the wait staff when I request they take the doggie bag away and return it with the bill.
  11. Many of you here now will not have known blossom. This is the origial thread o the tragedy. Very sad...but it does show the Love and Friendship that can be developed between people who never meet. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/condolences-blossom-t5745.html?p=61204
  12. We're still thinking about you GIRL and miss you as much today as we ever have. Philip, Hope your getting along fine in your life and we will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers also
  13. Ryan, There isn't a single day that goes by that I don't remember what you have meant to so many. So I feel terrible that I didn't realize that your birthday had come and gone. I am terrible at remember ing birthdays. Just ask my sister who was born on my 1st birthday and I still forget to call or send a card. What brouoght me here was knowing it was almost the 2nd anniverary of Bloosom's pasing. I landed right in the middle of your birth March 8th and Bloosom's death March 12. I pray everyday for you both. God sure got the better part of this deal.
  14. I graduated from High Shool on June 9th 1968 and quit smoking Cigarettes on June 10th 68. Went into the Milatary and took up a pipe. Was going to go back to Cigs but didn't want the enemy catching site of the red glow on end of cig so I started a pipe. Figured what the heck They'd never see the red glow at the bottom of the bowl from a plane. Came home from Nam in 1972 in time to go to funeral of an uncle who died of tongue cancer and he smoked a pipe for 39 yrs. On way home from cemetery I rolled down car window and tossed out a beautiful pipe I had purchased in Hong Kong. Got stopped by a cop and issued for littering. Oh well. Decided to take up cigars two years later and just before I got married my future wife told me that between farting and the damn cigars I could really stink up a room. So since farting is more natural and of cousre fun I gave up the cigars. Everytime I get into a smoked filled room I really have to fight the urge but I have for all these years. Bungy jumping, smoking, riding in car without seat belt and getting married can all end a man's live early. So far I survived smoking, no seat belt and 32 yrs of marriage. I WILL NEVER BUNGY JUMP.
  15. Had my Surgery Tuesday morning at 8:30am. Released from hospital after swallow test on Wednesday at noon and was back to work Friday at 11pm. WOuld probably had gone back to work thursday nite but it was one of my off days.
  16. Hiccups tell me STOP now. If I don't I am uncomfortable for at least an hour. Sometimes I begin the PB routine which, next to sticking my finger in the light socket, is my favorite thing to do. I have been fooled a few times...where I hiccup once and then no more so I take a few more bits and holy cow I want to find the highest bridge. So thru trial and error I have learned. Hiccup to me is like a cop with a ticket book...I'll give you a warning mister if you stop. otherwise you get the ticket and pay the piper
  17. Grace you absolutely right. My Dr told me that there was nothing they could do for the pain from the injected gas and as you were told I was too....move around. Just sit and be in pain. Move and it gets absorbed. But in defense of those who talk about Gasx and the like. A lot of Banded people have an increas in "Natural Gas" and it may start right at the time of surgery and thus the confusion. Remember when you are eating properly Having gas is natural...Its part of the digestive system. I love my band and all that has come along with it
  18. Beer is probably the one thing I miss most. Not that I drank alot before surgery but always enjoyed a good cold one on a hot day. I spoke to my Dr about drinking beer and he told me he has patients who have no problem and then some do. So i set up my own experiment. Flew to Vegas...$263.00 round trip. Stayed 3 nites free as Harrah's has me on their sucker list. An honor I brag about...lol Played $300.00 in video poker machine waiting for drink lady to come by so I could get the "FREE" beer. What the hell wasn't going to spend $2.00 on a beer back home that I may not be able to finish. Half way thru the bottle beer I realized this wasn't going to work out. Good decision I didn't pay for that beer as I dumped out more then half the bottle. So I went to the bar to get a candberry/vodka to drown my sorrows. Put another hundred thru video poker machine. Bartender started talking to me (since he had no choice...was at bar alone...) I was telling him about my beer problem and he suggested I try a beer from the Tap since it is less carbonated. So I order one and while I was sipping it I put another $100.00 thru machine. Hit a two grand on a Royal flush(playing .50 cents). Was a good sign. The beer went down just fine so tried a second. Better then first. So I spent the next day with my friend that lives there and didn't spend a dime. Next day I had one more tap beer while I spent $200.00 on Three Card Poker. Caught my 1pm flight home. Si I spent $863.00 gambling and flight. Won $2,000.00 and came home with $1137.00 profit. Not to bad. Now I'm looking for something else to experimant with in Vegas. Bottom line is I can't drink bottle beeer but can enjoy a brew from the tap. Sure glad I didn't take the cheap way to find out and purchase that $2.00 bottle beer in Detroit

  20. I work midnights. The two nights prior to my surgery were off nites on my schedule. I had the surgery on a Tuesday morning and was sent home on Wednesday morning. Went back to work at 11pm on Friday nite. I really could have gone back on Thursday but I had several fellow employees that wanted to work for me so I didn't have to use vacation time and they insisted I stay home till Friday.
  21. Lisah....I had to chuckle when I read this. I'm not sure I would have had the band if I read this. Just want new people to know the needle doesn't go into the stomach. It goes into the skin and then the port....I fear needles as it is but I have never had a fill that I felt. Sure that wouldn't be the same if it went into the stomach...lol Wheetsin. I too liked your post. It explains it with very little left to understand
  22. I will finish reading this thread but if someone else has already replied with these thoughts then I apologize for the re-peat but I had to respond at this point. If my child was doing math homework and they wanted to use a calculator and I said no because I as the parent know that the purpose of the homework was for them to learn without the use of the tool. Would I be wrong in not letting them use "thier Tool" to get thru this homework. In MHO I would say I would be right in not allowing it. My uncle recently passed away and now my aunt is moving to a condo. She has offered me any of my uncles tools in the garage before she gives them away. I found that he owned many more tools then I ever thought and many of them were never used. Still in original box with receipts taped to the box. Now I'm talking over $10,000.00 worth of tools. The reason I was so shocked is because he never did any thing around his house. He always hired others to do the work. The Question I can't get out of my head is Why would anyone buy tools they don't plan on using. This past June I was going to Vegas and I always struggle with all the buffets there. So I asked my Dr to tighten me a 1/2 cc. He talked to me about learning control and he agreed to only add 1/4 after he realized that I have not been having any weight loss for a period of time. So actually he didn't tighten the band for me for a vacation purpose but for a long term betterment of my health. I lost 4 pounds that trip and since have lost all the weight I picked up and now I am at my highest weight lose and I would not give back one single pound just to be able to taste something. Others here have already said it and I agree...Your can taste anything with a small bite. If you like it you can come back for a second small taste later. Its all this tasteing and returning that got all of us to this point in the first place. We all have different reasons for selecting the lapband over the other surgeries...But if you reason is so you can manipulate it when you want then you are better off getting real serious with a W/W or Jenny Craig program that you can walk away from and return to. This is what I tired for years and found that I had trouble returning after I was away for anytime. You may find after haveing Fluid taken out for a vacation you will have trouble wanting to return to get it put back in till you have gained more then you expected or wanted to. What ever you decide for yourself I do wish you the best and hope you do achieve what you want.
  23. LOL Several people have PM and asked. Since everyone here is honest none of them have posted the answer and claimed to have known it. My hat is off to you. PRINCE PRINCES PRINCESS There you go.
  24. Hi I'm Greg and I am from Harper Woods (sub of Detroit). I was banded on 8/10/04 and my sleep apnea is gone now. And I had a severe case of it. Well come to the board and hope your surgery date gets here soon.
  25. . Sue I can agree with you on this with one exception. Most of us that do not have problems with the band always say its a piece of cake to have it removed. We are talking about under conditions where no complications have arisen. If for some unknown reason I just want it out, it is a simple proceedure to have it removed. But once complications set in I'm sure your correct about it being more difficult depending on the complications. I have all the same reasons for the lapband that shell04937 posted along with a few other resons. Mostly I wanted the band because even though the food is delayed to the stomach when it gets there it is broken down and absorbed naturally. With the other surgeries supliments are needed and other health problems arise. I have a friend who had the GB and we compare notes all the time. She has many other problems that I do not have related to her surgery. I relaize we are all different and what may be good for one is not for the other. But I am glad I choose the band.
