You may want to discuss with your nut, as the appropriate calories for you will depend on several factors including BMI, gender, and level of exercise.

When I was about 4 months out, my nut recommended I increase from 1000 to 1200 and my rate of weight loss actually increased. She said that given my level of exercising my body was storing fat at 1000 calories. Do speak to your nut about this ...

You have lost 70 lbs. in 5 months AND your still loosing 5 lbs. a week, I would say that's a great weight loss track record...I can understand if you have stalled or only loosing 2 lbs. a month..but 5 a week is pretty darn good.

Keep up with the good work!!

@@Eclectick if I read the OP right she IS losing a half pound a week (.5) not 5 lbs per week.

Weight loss does slow eventually. If you have access to a dietician through your surgeon's practice, you may want to see if they have tips for you. Or you may find that eventually your weight loss picks up again on its own -- sometimes there are slow downs and speed ups, and you can't really control them. I was eating under 800 calories per day at that point, but I eventually (about 9 months out) bumped it up to 1000 calories per day and found that my weight loss picked up a little when it did that. There is no one right answer for everyone -- you just need to experiment and find what works for you -- assuming you aren't working with a dietician that you trust. If you are, do what they say ^_^

I was eating between 1000-1200 calories per day during my loss phase and exercising 5x per week for 500-600 cal burn each day. I lost consistently but not necessarily "super fast". One thing I found that helped was to vary my intake day to day, (one day low end, the next high end of the calorie range) and to always take 2 days off in a row from exercise to rest. I'm continuing the same in maintenance though with more calories (and try to eat back the exercise calories now) and it seems to be working. I'm a bit below goal and may let a few more "vanity pounds" trickle off.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
