It's getting real now

Recommended Posts

I verified that Aetna received my paperwork today and the reality of what I'm about to do hit me like a ton of bricks when they confirmed they received it. Ive been working on this (insurance hoop jumping) for over 6 months now and until today I guess I kept expecting my doctor and staff to tell me surgery isn't possible for some reason. I know that's irrational, and I haven't even been approved yet, but suddenly it all seems very real. I think a part of it is because I sometimes still see myself in my mind as much smaller than I've let myself become. (Even though I've been morbidly obese for many years now.)

Am I nuts or is this normal?

You're 1000000% normal.

Perfectly normal! When I set my tentative date, I panicked a little. When I sent in my deposit a few weeks later, I panicked. Each step as I got closer and closer to surgery date, it seemed like each milestone made things more and more real.

Got my insurance approval today...........holy crap.....I was beginning to convince myself they would deny me since I had a 4 lb net gain during the six month weight loss trial. I heard Aetna was adamant about no net gain but it doesn't seem to be the case.

I was too busy at work today to let it hit me but I'm sure by tomorrow it will really set in when I get my surgery date.

I was the exact same way, had 10000 hiccups along the way and when when I got approved and got a surgery date I still didn't believe it. Mines this coming Wednesday, and I guess I will finally believe it happened when I wake up from surgery. Its just hard to take in, that after 5 years of working towards something it's finally here. Congrats on your surgery and good luck!

It sounds real to me. I was blessed with great insurance that didn't require most of the pre-requisites many face. My surgery was approved and scheduled from my decision to pursue it. It was almost like a whirlwind. I had no time to get cold feet and haven't regretted it. Keep up the excitement...your life is going to change.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
