I started the journey of getting approved for surgery in July. I've finished everything asked of me. Now, I've been waiting a week for my surgeon or whomever receive my psych evaluation from Dr. Roderick Lilly. I am ready to pull my hair out waiting for everything. I'm so ready to get this surgery done. And the not knowing when it will happen...ugh!!! How long does it take for my psych evaluation to be turned in? Am I just over anxious?
Surgeon: Dr. Roc Bauman at Carolinas Weight Loss Center, Concord, NC

I hope it happens soon for you but keep in mind...when it's time..it's time.

When your Dr.'s office receives the Psych eval, they still have to turn it into the insurance company which could also hold up the exact date of surgery. Not trying to bum you out...but wouldn't you rather be bummed out now then excited when it turns out your surgery is tomorrow??

Mine isn't until November 10th...and she also told me if Insurance sits on it...it may be 2 weeks after that...So the closer it gets I am sure I will be just as anxious as you.

My psych eval took right at 6 weeks to get finished. I was on them every couple weeks to get it dictated and typed out. Wow just took forever but it's done now and I have it. Will turn everything in on Oct 15th

Hi, I am seeing Dr. Bauman also, I had my pysch evaluation on August 21, and they still have not received it. They said it takes a few weeks to receive them. I went to Dr. Quinn.

GREAT NEWS!!!!! I got a call this morning a little after 8am and was told that my Psy. Eval. was sent to Dr. Bauman's office yesterday. I feel so much better for now. Now, time to find out how long Humana Medicare takes to approve the surgery once Dr. Baumna's office submit my information.

@rlsmommy1203 I ended up having to go back down to their office and redo an authorized release form. I hope you hear something soon!

I think my initial appointment for the psych testing / interview and the second appointment for psych evaluation report to me were a month apart.

It doesn't take so long because we're so "special," but because most bariatric centers these days are overwhelmed with so many patient applications.

I checked my weight loss center account and seen where they sent my info to the insurance company yesterday. I talked to the insurance company, Humana, and was told that the nurse has 14 days to approve or deny. According to the list Humana sent me at the beginning of this, I have met their requirements. When I had my psy. eval, the doc said he didn't see any reason, psychological, that I would be denied. I had the correct understanding and mindset. Sooooo....we'll see.

Yeah, it finally takes the uncertainty out of it all. From here on, things will start to get more real and you will probably feel more (deep breath) stable.

So, Let me get this right....I have already completed every prerequisite for my surgery, way at the beginning as a matter of fact. I go to my 6th (last) dietician appointment on Monday..then according to the nurse I have to wait a month to see the Doctor (everything has to be schedule 30 days apart) which will put me at the end of October...so that means at that time..my paperwork will be submitted to insurance company, and probably will take 14 days or better to get the approval...nurse scheduled my surgery intentively for November 10, but that wont work because of the last day I will see Doctor verses the 14 day wait period....will probably put me at the 24th of November. Good Grief...he only does them twice every other Monday.

Depending on your insurance, approval can take as little as 5 days.

Hi, I also am a pre-op patient of Dr. Bauman's. Is it a requirement to lose weight before your surgery? From what I recall in my initial appointment I was told they would like for me to lose a little weight beforehand but I don't remember it being a requirement.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
