Heads look bigger, lol.

I have relaxed hair and had some shedding between months 3-6 but not a lot. Just take your Vitamins and make sure your Iron isnt low. If you are anemic, you will definitely lose a lot of hair. Best if luck to you all.

Heads look bigger because of more narrow shoulders and skinnier necks!

Be careful with braiding as well as that pulls tension on your hair I learned the hard way from previous braiding I haven't been sleeved yet and am natural and have been talking to my beautician on steps to help strengthen my hair of course there is nothing she can do to prevent the breakage/shedding if it happens but I'm hoping with steady treatments and plenty of Protein and Vitamins I can at least reduce the amount of hair I may or may not loose.

@@lachellove There's nothing that says you can't. However, I started shedding about 3 months out. It's worked out pretty well for me considering I had been natural for about little over a year. I couldn't take it anymore and got a relaxer. I've chosen to relax my hair about every 12 weeks or so and I'm wearing a sewn in weave. I am also careful not use a lot of heat. The shedding is there but not too bad so far.
I guess the answer to your question is that everyone is different. So try to figure out what is best for you. Hey, you may not even have shedding! Make sure you get your Protein in and take your Vitamins. I also take extra Biotin.

thank you, I'm a little over a week post op I'm just taking my braids out. I want to keep it braided out of fear of shedding.

Braiding isn't going to stop the shedding. If your hair is shedding the braids will just hold the shed hair, and when you take the braids out you will still have the shedding and the matting will be worse.

Adding the extra weight and tension of braids when you hair is fragile is a recipe for disaster, the braids will just break off at the root.

Oh my goodness, I was worried about loose skin now I have to be worried about a big head too? LOL!! My surgery date is this coming Tuesday and I am getting nervous, it seems more like not about complications but about my future new self, I am kind of afraid to meet her if that makes sense - its been a long time being overweight.

I'm glad you guys have posted solutions to Hair loss. I haven't experienced any yet, but I'm only four weeks post op. I'm going to look up those Vitamins to see. I figure it can't hurt! I've just switched to mushy foods, and it's way better than the Protein Shakes. Although I wish I had discovered Unjury earlier. I bought a sample pack last week and the chocolate Splendor is delicious! Just a heads up for those of you who will be heading into that Protein Shake phase. Everyone's tastes are different, but I really liked these.

What vitamins are you taking?

hair loss- you wouldn't know by the pictures, but I feel like I've lost a ton of hair. I'm going tomorrow to get my hair done. I'll definitely know after that what I'm working with. I'm not complaining as I LOVE my new body!

Hey! So i got my Surgery Date finally. Started this whole process back in Nov2014 and My Surgery Date is *Drum rolls* 9/15/15!!

I Have a few questions?

What did you guys bring to the hospital with you? Personal Stuff?(Tooth Brushes, Pads, ECT)

Did your Friend/Spouse get to Stay in the patient recovery room with you the whole time?

How long did you stay after the surgery was complete?

Did you have a Laptop or Tablet for entertainment?

Should i get my hair put up so i wont have to worry about maintenance for a few days?

What were you prescribed for the pain?

Any other advice for the whole experience would be great too! :P

I brought a change of clothes to go home, a gown, robe, toothbrush, toothpaste, a book and my phone. I was only in there one night though. I really didn't need most of that stuff because I slept alot and when I wasn't doing that, I was getting up to walk. I went home in the clothes I came in. I didn't read at all.

The hospital I was in did have a recliner and sofa for someone to stay over night. I wear my hair close cropped so it's low maintenance but I would do something to it if it was longer. I was given liquid tylenol with codeine for pain as well as zofran for nausea.

I brought a bunch of stuff, Chapstick, toothbrush etc. I didn't use ANY of it. I was there one night. Slept most of the time, got up and walked the halls. My hospital gave me toothbrush, socks, mouthwash, etc. I got to admitting at 6a, was in surgery by 7:45, woke up in recovery...well medicated :-) , up to my room. No drain, my surgeon fixed a small hernia. I was out 3pm the next afternoon.

I say bring what you feel you might need. I'm a person who would rather have too much than not have it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
