Will it really work?

Recommended Posts

Starting my liquid diet on Monday for a surgery date of 9/29 but I have been pondering that awful question for the last week! "Will this really work?" .... I have struggled with my weight my entire life and even though I have lost 37 lbs to date on the diet I am still asking myself that dreadful question several times a day. I have SEEN the results that this surgery can give to people from this site as well as family members but I still have so much doubt that I will get this procedure done, go through the life changing decisions, and see ZERO results.

My brother, who has had the sleeve, tells me that it is not possible to fail at this but I am still sooooo scared that it is :/ Anyone else have these doubts???

If you follow the program, ABSOLUTELY! The sleeve is not a miracle, it's a tool. Ultimately, it's up to you to make it work and use this amazing tool to your advantage. Good Luck and congratulations to you both!!

Your going thru the natural head swarming do I don't I thought process. .I did it. My thoughts were oh this works for others there's no way it'll work on me! Everything else failed. But after thinking about this for over 15 yrs..an 2 my drs directing me to this, my surgeon is close friend of my friend I trusted an talked to him I thought if my insurance approve this then I will go thru with it. Had all preop test an classes done 2 wk preop shake 2 days before there it goes again my mind trying to question it again...my hubs being my biggest supporter. .I took a valium night before. .an went to preop big smiles..an smiled all the way to or! I'm 9 wks out..first month ruff. .not goin to lie..if you mentally prepare yourself for the worst you'll get thru. My surgeon forwarned me..if I can get thru first month youv got it made. So glad I did it! 60 pds down..gave away 6 large bags of clothes!! You can do this! Its getting your life back! I refused to be fat another day! I have a lot of health issues..some have improved been off glucose med since day 1..some meds I'll be on here out..it's only a tool..strict diet an active will be incorporated here out.but u already no that..:) best wishes..keep us posted!

It will work....if you work it. Follow your doctor's instructions and eating plan to the letter. Dense Protein first, followed by veggies and starch last. Lots of Water and beware of liquid calories(smoothies, regular iced tea, iced coffee, etc)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
