New to all of this....

I recently had my surgery on August 11th. The first 2 wks the weight basically flew right off. As if right now I am not losing any weight and I am becoming a little discouraged. I've read where it is possibly just a stall and I'm hoping that is all it is. I'm trying to be patient but I guess only time will tell!

Definitely be patient. Your body is still adjusting to the changes. I have weeks where I stalled and weeks where the weight fell off in bundles. My advice - don't let the bathroom scale get you. I was weighing once a day - I now do once a week and I am much happier!

I have stopped trying to weigh everyday. I realized that was just letting me down in the end. I go for my one month post op on Tuesday, so I think I'm going to hold off until then.

My doctor told me stalling was completely normal. It feels weird to be taking in so little food and not losing near as much weight as my mind thinks it should!

Congratulations! You have reached "The Dreaded Week-3 Stall". It's perfectly normal and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or more. But don't worry -- after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. If you're interested, here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight like crazy!

Thank you so much for that!! I've read that it happens but it's always nice to hear it from other people.

Glad to help! I've kind of made it a personal crusade to inform people about the Week-3 Stall because I wish someone had told me! I was going to lose my mind until I tripped over that article. Then I was able to chill and ride it out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
