Marathon / Ultra / Endurance Fueling

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I'm 12 weeks out from my sleeve and a month back into marathon training, and I'm having real trouble fuelling. At least I think it's fuelling, right now I'm still running at the same bloody pace I was running my marathons at when I was 18kgs heavier.

I went out for a 10 miler today and I had to put walk breaks in as I was tired, and my pace was just so slow. This is not normal for me (the slow is, the walk breaks, not so much).

My next marathon is in 7 weeks I am worried about how I'm going to do this, my body feels less able than it was pre-surgery. Some context, I've been running marathons for 7 years, so I know how I normally perform, how are others fuelling for endurance events? Before? During? Post / recovery?

I dont do marithons , but have asked my NUT about endurnance fueling. Try nuts and fruit. High cals with some sugar.

I'm not training for a marathon but when I started back weightlifting at 4 weeks, my NUT had me add in more healthy carbs (fruits/veggies). She said I needed that for the short-term energy that is needed when working out that hard. It definitely helped.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
