Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

Hey all.... Some of us figured it would be easier to buddy up so that we could follow each other through the process from here on out.

I'm scheduled for surgery on Sept 8th and I start my liquid diet on Sept. 1st. Everything happened so quickly after my last NUT appt. yesterday..... I am feeling a combo of nerves and excitement. I have to get labs done tomorrow morning, I see my surgeon on Thursday, and I have my pre-op next Tuesday.

My husband has taken a few days off work to be with me and I have started making a list of things I need before the big day.

......... I can't wait to be on the losers bench.

I think you misunderstood.... We weren't talking about eating it.

It's coming up and I was referring to what I will miss most about the thanksgiving feast. Trust me... I am not a huge fan of traditional holiday feasts, so those aren't even triggers for me.

It's so hard to know what ppl are really trying to say when they are posting.

Sorry I didn't think you were going to I didn't misunderstand you. My intent wasn't to offend you some other people were talking about it like it was a trigger for them.

I was just strategizing since it's one of those days WLS patients should plan for. So in your own words it's hard to know what people are saying when they post as it's clear what I was saying was lost.

Oh no.... That is so wrong that they are trying to dictate exactly what you do to your body. I can't even imagine that struggle. My insurance Co. held things up for me because my surgeon stated that I might have a possible hiatal hernia to repair (which I did) but he had to take that off the paperwork before they would approve me.

I meant water all by itself. I have been drinking crystal light easily even in the hospital. I can drink all my listed drinks with no problem except for water.

Oh okay, well I can't drink plain water at all either I have to add crystal light. I have a hiatal hernia as well and he said he'll repair that during surgery so I'm just praying everything goes well with me.

I didn't take offense.... It's all good.

It will Shauna.... Just be confident and do what your surgeon says.

Most of us have had some really good luck.

Hi , How's everyone doing? I miss you guys I'm doing okay I just came from my surgeons office I should be having surgery before this month Is out I'll keep you guys posted.

That is awesome news! So glad to hear you'll be on the losers bench soon (:

How are you guys doing with protein? For the life of me, I haven't been able to get in even half of my daily protein goal.

I'm not doing too hot with fluids either but my surgeon assured me as long as my urine stays clear, I'm fine.

Hope everyone is doing well!

I usually drink a 35g can protein shake in the morning and at lunch I eat soup and add 30g of Genepro protein. I also sip on hot tea and crystal lite throughout the day and at some point I will have iced tea. I eat Greek yogurt which gives me about 12g protein and if I want a coffee treat I do decaf coffee mixed with chocolate mocha protein 25g... But not everyday.

I manage to get at least 60g of protein in everyday ... Sometimes more. Drinking is very easy for me but the soups, pudding and yogurts fill me up quickly.

I have no clue if I am getting 64 ounces of what is considered liquids but I know I am not drinking enough plain water.

Hey Shauna29

It's so good to hear from you. And to be presented with such good news. Please let us know when you will have your surgery and how you are recovering. Good luck

It's morning and that's more than half the days worth.

Where did you find that? How much?

How's the taste?

Gevalia decaf coffee plus Special K vanilla cappuccino equals a pretty darn good combination!

I got them at a vitamin store by me. They were 2.85 each, but I just bought a choc and vanilla to try. The chocolate wasn't bad at all.... I think I will get them again. I have not tried the vanilla yet.
