Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery Friday and getting released today. All went well. I was nervous about the 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery because I ate some lean meat (Chicken, turkey) off the Atkins diet. I heard Atkins is another way to shrink your liver. Post-op I was told my liver looked great, was a "tiny" liver, so it all worked out.

Wishing you all the best for your surgeries & a speedy recovery! Planning on a nice walk today at halftime! It's truly exciting starting this new chapter in my life!

Thank you?

How are you feeling?

I can't believe it's tomorrow!! I'm starting to get a bit nervous, how about ya'll? Mine got moved up from 10am to 8am because whoever was before me had to cancel. I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am! This is day ten of my liquid diet and I lost 8.2 lbs I feel good about that. So I go from liquid to no liquids after midnight. I'm mostly packed and I have my husband and my cousin/best friend to be with me the entire time, plus my mom and aunt will be coming to see me. I think I'm ready. I"m nervous as I said, but I've been waiting years for this and it's finally here!!! Good luck and speedy recoveries for all of us :-)

I'm not really nervous yet... Just super excited to get a do-over starting tomorrow.

My surgery is in the afternoon so I have to be at the hospital at noon I would have preferred a morning time but oh well.... It's still happening.

The waiting around tomorrow will be hard though... Still not even drinking Water and the nerves will kick in as the time gets closer.

Thank you?

How are you feeling?

I'm feeling a bit sore in the abdomen, mostly near the incision where they took the stomach out. Pain meds are helping. Otherwise I feel fine & can walk around the house, make my own drinks, etc. I am tired as we'll but likely from getting woken up so often in the hospital. I and out in 2 days! Happy about that!

Good luck today everyone! I hope you will update ASAP.

Be positive that we will be just as lucky as those before us without any complications and feeling pretty good after our surgeries today.

Special good thoughts for our medical teams today and especially our surgeons.

See you on the other side of a healthier life.

I woke up with horrible cramps but I am almost certain it was because I'm on my cycle (cramps felt the same). After some meds.... I felt fine.

So far, still NPO but they are going to do a test to make sure all is okay so I can start sipping away. I have a little bit of a sore throat because of the tube but it's very mild. The Chapstick has been my saving grace.... I don't know what I would have done without it. I also have a private room and bathroom.... So I didn't need ear plugs or anything. So happy to not have to deal with others.

I walked around 2am and felt fine but dragging around the IV pole and I had a catheter at the time and it was all in my way or so I felt. I "think" I will get to go home later today which would be fantastic!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
