Hello all, my name is Dayana and I was banded on August 13th. My band is empty as my surgeon will not fill until six weeks post op. The issue is that I am hungry. I have been on liquids and gradually moving to on to mushies. I despise the taste of my Protein Shakes and I know that I am only taking in one serving as oppose to three servings. Is this why I am hungry? Should I force myself to take the Protein shakes. I hate people saying "you should off opted for the sleeve because hunger will not be a issue". I opted for the band and I am happy with my choice I just want to be successful. Also I have only lost 4 lbs since surgery, is that normal? Thank you guys any advice or comments will be appreciated.

I agree with the Protein shakes. I found changing them up helps. I like to make sugar free pudding with a scoop of no flavor Protein in addition to the recipe on the back of the box.

I have one of those personal blenders one of my fav Protein shake is one scoop plan no flavor protein. 1/4 packet of sugar free banana pudding milk. Leave in the fridge for 5 min and it's like pie filling.

I make a killer chocolate one too. Scoop chocolate protein teaspoon of plan coco powder milk and 1/4 packet of sugar free pudding.

I bought Isopure "banana orange pineapple" protein at high health and well it's awful. I use one scoop of it Water and fruit punch crystal lite

These usually make 2 servings.

I want to a Peanut Butter chocolate one. They sell Peanut Butter flavor at my dr office I want to try.

I don't loathe the Protein shakes like you do, but ever since I got a nutra ninja blender I have been having so much fun making really yummy shakes. I think it's because it blends them so much better. And I use ice and sometimes put other things (peanut butter!) in them. Do you mix your shakes with Water or skim milk? My doc says it doesn't matter, but the milk is 100x better.

Things will get better I promise. You need to not worry about weight loss yet because your body has gone through so much. You need to let it heal. I was able to have sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles, so not sure what your doctor recommends. I also didn't like the Protein shakes but yes Protein keeps you full longer so you should try to drink more. Good luck to you and this journey, I am sure you will do great!

@@dayana4100 thank you for your post. Congrats on the surgery!

I did my surgery on Aug 14th. I am just starting to have hunger pains as well. My instructions tell me to have 2 oz of protien every two hours. Also to sip on crystal light, Water, Decaf tea etc inbetween. I am getting really tired of the liquid diet. i do not mind the taste or anything....its just boring.

I plan to follow the directions and start on the soft stuff at the end of the week. YAY! i never thought I would rejoice over yogurt and applesauce....but oh well.

I lost 12.5 pounds on the pre-surgery diet and 10 pounds since surgery so I am thankful for that anyway.

Keep positive and stay in the fight. We basically started at the same time and I look forward to hearing your good results.

Keith

Hey! My surgery was August 8, 2014, and I know how you feel. I won't have my first fill until next week, Thursday to be exact, and I'm nervous.

I'm hungry a lot. lol. But, I'm trying to make sure that I'm taking in at least 20+ grams of Protein in each meal, to hold me over until the next, drinking lots of Water in between. My surgeon also said to wait between 45 minutes and an hour before drinking Water after you "eat" your meal. I've moved onto solid foods, now, and it's even more difficult. Without a fill, I want to eat everything in sight and it's killing me! However, I have learned when I'm eating too quickly because I feel like it gets stuck.

Good luck, hon! I hope everything gets better. Hang in there because it only gets better from here :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
