I had the gastric bypass !

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Aug 11th . Um I have been walking a lot but I still have pressure and soreness. I think I will puke if I taste or smell broth again. Oh and if one person tells me I'm taking the easy way out ... Hasn't had the bypass and need to shut the fuck up :)

Hang in there betterme008! I totally get it with people talking about "taking the easy way out..." Well, if they were caught in a tiny crevice between a rock mountain and an iceberg [fallen 300 ft. down in there], and their choices to get out alive were to 1] make it to the opening at the top, OR 2] allow themselves to fall another 20 feet [some cuts and bruises along the way] and get out through an opening in the rock that leads out the side of the mountain. There is no way any sane person would choose #1 when there is an "easy way" outta there. This surgery is a matter of life or death for most of us. When facing certain death who wouldn't choose the "easy way out". I'm totally proud of you and myself for choosing bariatric surgery. We are not lazy or stupid...we are courageous and strong!

I only had broth twice.......but my surgeon said I could have the Protein Shakes after I got out of the hospital, between that and my Water, I did not want anything else. Hang in there.......ignore the ignorant

People are bold in their judgements. Some of the things they say are just incredible and reveal what asses they really are.

Hi, I had the rny gastric bypass last Thursday 8/14/14. I am home now, but I am in so much pain. I can't find a comfortable way to sleep. Getting off and on to bed is excruciating. I have been walking around through, I still feel bloated and bruised. When does it stop hurting?

I had my surgery done robotically on July 28 & my only issue in the hospital was the anesthesia.

I got up the next morning & walked my laps around the floor. I sipped my Water & that night they added crystal lite, was good. Next morning I had a Protein shake, drank it in about an hour & went home @ 11 that morning. I took a Tylenol 2 days later, other than that I took no pain meds.

I'm on stage 4 now, mashing up my food isn't so bad. It's just amazing how full you get so fast on so little. I made the mistake tonight of eating a bite too much of my egg salad......feel uncomfortable now.

I really didn't know what to expect & it surely is not taking the easy way out, but I'm glad I did it. I do no regret it & I think I had it easy. I hope others had/have the same experience.

Congrats! Mine was on 8/11 and I'm still on Clear Liquids. Nothing about this is easy! My recovery was smooth until I started hemorrhaging so I was re-admitted 2days later for a couple nights. Glad you're doing well!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
