Yes, having breasts and stomach surgery at the same time. Also, I was so excited for lap-band surgery it was all I could think about 24 hours a day for 6 months. This surgery........to be honest......not so much. I'm excited for the outcome, but I have been having some real negative thoughts on this plastic surgery thing.

1) I'm a gold miner and I'm the only girl on an all guy crew and they always treated me and complimented me as "one of the guys". Now they are saying I'm shallow and going to be full of myself now that I have lost 120 pounds and I'm having plastic surgery. I even heard the word bimbo being said about me on the bus last week to work. I should not care what these a$$holes say about me but it is bothering me a little.

2)I feel like I needed the lap-band surgery for SURVIVAL. I'm diabetic and my mom died when she was 47 of diabetes and both her parents died in their 40's of diabetes. I really feel like I had exhausted all resources and lap band was my final choice at a longer life. But.....I know plastic surgery is not needed to lengthen my life. I've been having these guilty feelings of selfishness and like I'm pushing the envelope too much and I shouldn't be greedy and things of that nature. I know it's weird, but that is why I haven't been excited about this surgery like I was lap-band. Hopefully I get over it.

You absolutely should not feel guilty! You have worked so hard to lose the weight and deserve to have the absolute best outcome. The guys at work probably are having a hard time getting used to the change and may be bothered by working with a sexy woman instead of one of the guys. I think there is a difference between wanting to look good and being overly vain. I know women who are obsessed with their appearance and I doubt you will turn into one of them. For one thing that type of woman would never be a gold miner because it would ruin her nails! It is probably weird getting attention from men but I am sure you will get used to it. I must admit that I was thin until I had my children 14 years ago and after I got fat it was sometimes nice to be invisable to men (and sometimes not I did miss the attention sometimes!)

Hang in there.

Don't feel guilty! This is going to be a great plus to your lossing weight! Remember you are doing this for you, not for them. Who cares what the guys say! Keep your head up and hang in there, surgery is just three days away! Good luck! I can't wait to see pics!

FSC - I'm praying for you!! I hope you or your hubby post soon to let us know how you are recovering.

I know how you feel about the guilt issue. I was self pay for the band and even had some guilt issues over that. Most of the relatives were good about it at least on the surface (Except my mother). But under the surface I knew that they felt I was both taking an "easy" way out and also "wasting" money for an unecessary procedure, since in their minds I should be able to lose the weight if only I had the will power and tried. UHGHHH!!!!

Now I'm scheduled for PS (Extended Tummy Tuck) in early October and I'm feeling the guilt even stronger now than I did with the decision to get banded. I know there is no way the skin will go away on its own but I struggle with feeling I'm wasting money to cut it off just because of a few heat rashes and the inconvienence of having to wear a Spanx to make my clothes fit right.

But, it's too late to feel guilty now. Just enjoy the ride, we all deserve it after all the hard work we put into making this "easy way" work for us.

I'm not going to lie. I am in some pain. Sometimes more than others. I still am taking my pain pills about every 8-10 hours instead of the recommended 4-6 hours. So I know that is a good sign. I am going to get some better pictures when I stand up to go for my walk later today. I will get some of me standing so you can compare them to before pics better. Hopefully by next week I will have pictures that my nurse took in the office last week. They were good before pics. I will continue to post from bed the next few days with new pics and answer any questions. Might be weird answers though. Very loopy. Hope the pics turn out good.

And the red marks all over my body/neck/face/especially back of legs are literally scratch marks. They were giving me morphine for pain as I was coming out of surgery and for the next 6 hours after that and it drove me crazy. I have never itched so bad in my life. I scratched through the skin on the backs of my knees and back of neck. That morphine does not work well with me.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
