Everyone's post-op plan is a little different, so you should check that. For me I was still on mushies at 5 weeks. And most people can't drink in the first few months post-op. Does that mean you can't go? I'd say it depends on how important it is to you. You could buy a thermos and/or container that keeps food/drink cold or hot and bring your own food for the day. Or just eat before and hope for the best that there will be a little bit of food you can eat.

If it was me I'd only go to a wedding at that stage if it was someone really important to me. If that was the case I'd make it work, but it would require some planning I think.

I did!

Cocktail hour they had roast beef and ham carving station in addition to all the other bad choices. I stuck to have. Cut it up in really teeny tiny pieces.

I ordered a Pinot Grigio and sipped it for 7 hours

dinner - first course was ravioli - I passed it onto the other diners at the table stating I was full from cocktail hour.

Second course salad - I are the couple pieces of cheese on the plate. Passed it to hubby

Entree - I got the fish and ate very slowly and played tricks with the plate. I basically destroyed that fish and made it look like I had eaten. I think I managed 3 ounces. They gave me 10.

Desert was waffles and cream with berries

I passed it onto other diners who had had the smallest entree of surf and turf I've ever seen in my life. These people were hungry

Cake - I took a mini bite

Champagne toast I pretended to drink it.

I danced a lot! No one really noticed my slow eating or lack thereof. It was great!!!

I went to a wedding 4 weeks out. It was a buffet so I took some Protein and a bite of veggies. Had a nibble of hubbies cake. I had a Protein Shake in my purse just in case I needed it. Bride was a very close co-worker. She knew about the surgery and we had talked about it before. It was kind of funny because I was worried about her paying for a meal I couldn't eat and she was worried about me not being able to eat anything. In the end we were both just happy I was there for her big day, the food didn't really matter. Avoided alcohol, btw. Still scared to try it.

I went to a wedding 4 weeks post op. I had a great time, You probably wont be hungry so make smart choices. I also had a ready-to-drink shake in my car to ensure that my Protein needs were met. I pushed the food around the plate and no one was any the wiser. Enjoy!

I was walking the mall 5 days after surgery. Eat/have a shake and go anywhere you want to. You will not be hungry and you can enjoy a wedding. Why would you need to eat? Talk and visit and be sociable. This is the new YOU! Skip the cake. Walk around with a glass of Water or Crystal Light. Life is fabulous!

A lot of our social life involves going to restaurants and parties. food will always be with us so we have to deal with it the best we can. I take the food I can eat and I nibble at it. Otherwise I get a glass of flavored Water and spend my time being sociable or helping the hostess keep things neat and tidy. I refuse to sit home and be afraid of food. I am in control and will not let the food control me. Take it one day at a time...you will do well.

At five weeks I was going to the gym four days a week and lifting light weights. I had been back at work for four weeks. Yes, you should be able to go to a wedding and dance the evening away. Depending on your surgeon's post op plan, you may be able to eat the food. I was on soft foods at 5 weeks, so chicken, ham, turkey, fish, those would have been fine. If there is a Soup course you will probably be able to eat that. Check in with your nutritionist to see what you can and cat eat just to be sure.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
