Sometimes I eat too much. Sometimes I eat too fast. Sometimes both. #wlsproblems, right? Instead of sitting there in an uncomfortable state, complete with foamies and such, I make myself throw up.

Usually, it helps get the excess food out and doesn't hurt.

I did it today and man, my insides are hurting. :( I was eating some Kraft Mac n cheese and studying for my insurance license, so I wasn't paying attention to how quickly/how much I was eating. I stopped to take a break, as I usually do whilst eating, and I had that uncomfortable feeling. I made myself vomit and it did seem more "violent" than other instances. Like my body really wanted it out (like after a night of heavy drinking or something).

Maybe I'm just a bit sore from it all, but I wanted to know, is throwing up bad for your pouch? Is it bad for your rearranged insides?

I was going to ask my doc, but I don't see him for another 3 weeks so I thought I'd get some input here. Thanks!

STOP IT NOW UNLESS YOU WANT MAJOR PROBLEMS......

What you are doing is very dangerous and you can destroy your insides badly.

You are acting like a bulimic person with making yourself throw up.

You should not be eating Kraft mac & cheese that's not good for you in any shape or form.

You should not wait the three weeks and you should call first thing in the morning and talk to the surgeons office and tell them what you have been doing to yourself. They will probably not be happy at all that you are making yourself throw up.

You must stop immediately so you don't do harm your body and permanent damage.

Prevention is the key. When your eating concentrate on that. Sit at the table put relaxing music on, take small bite chew well, put your fork down for 30 seconds, then take the next bite. Stop every bite and decide how you feel. A small amount of pressure in your chest or back means your full. No more throwing up! I'm concerned it can turn into an eating disorder.

ladykate, I think both of these posts have some important information for you. Throwing up is not normal or acceptable according to my surgeon. Plus, I notice that you had your surgery in May 2014? Isn't it too soon to be eating heavy carbs? You might want to call your doctor ASAP. Hoping for the best for you.

I had been throwing up 2 weekends in a row and it is not a good thing. I ended up hospitalized and with pancreatitis.

Kraft macaroni and cheese is probably not what you want to be eating, either.

I guess what I would do is get back to reading labels and measuring your food according to this stage in your post op diet.

I am at almost a month out and due to all of these complications, I am still on that first couple of weeks post op liquid diet.

This kind of makes me think that you might be eating the amounts you used to eat in the past, maybe have not been able to let go of that behavior. Then when it is too much you have to vomit.

I would try and get away from that.....

I don't think throwing up intentionally is the answer. It's probably going to lead you to a place you'd rather not go AND may end up stretching your pouch way out, defeating the purpose for having the surgery in the first place (not to mention what repeated vomiting can do to your tooth enamel) If I find I'm eating too quickly, I stop and wait it out. I will usually get a pain that signals to me that I better not put another bite in my mouth. If you're not paying attention to those signals, you may want to take the other posting suggestion and let eating be the only thing you do at one time, focus on how you feel 10-15 mins in, and then continue with small, well chewed bites. You also may want to take it back to basics - Kraft Mac n cheese isn't really a nutrient rich food and may pack on pounds with the high fat/carb content. Just my two cents. Good luck!

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
