Feeling dizzy and faint

Recommended Posts

I imagine it is because of my nausea and inability to take in much fluids. I guess the low amount of calories I am consuming as well.

Has anyone else had this issue? I seriously think I am falling to pieces and really regret the surgery.

Im also having the same issues 1week post op. My doctor attributes it to "what happens to your body after a major surgery." Have you had your blood pressure checked? If not, i would. Keep drinking liquids!!!!!

@@pik - hey! We're around the same date and I still have dizziness as well. I'm sure much of it is your body still being on the rebound. I'd run it past your doc but my guess is you'll feel less of it as you get in more foods/liquids/calories. Hopefully, you're feeling a tiny but better each day or every few days.

Well with the nausea I am having a real hard time getting in the fluids. I try, but it is not nearly as much as I need.

? Dehydration go to the ED and they can check your bp too. If you don't feel well get checked out and then you will know and won't be guessing what might be wrong.

Oh no. I have been back in the hospital twice through the ER. When I pinch my skin it goes right back down..... You have a point about the BP, though. It was pretty low in the hospital. Something is going to have to change with that. I have to take some high BP med for Migraines and that may now be issue.

Thanks for the advice.

I would have your blood sugar levels checked because if they are to low that can cause dizziness and the feeling that you are going to pass out.

Ask your surgeon for anti nausea pills and see if those help you calm things own so you can drink fluids and Protein better.

Please take care.

I know you had a real bumpy road so far and you are really discouraged but just take each day slow and easy it's bound to get smoother.

Be well.

Thank you. You know, I take Zofran during the day and it isn't helping much. I take Phenergan in the evening and it knocks me out. It helps but I don't want to be passed out all day...

I started out today feeling a lot better but I am still having problems with the nausea.

You know, I am discouraged about this surgery but I am not depressed. I suppose that is a good thing.

It really has been a bumpy road. I guess it will look up. At least the pain is gone now...

Thank you!

Pik you are more then welcome.

I feel for you and I keep you in my thoughts that things get better for you.

I'm glad that you aren't depressed that's good. It means you have hope still.

I'm confident that things will get better for you and you will feel much better.

I know it's a struggle to find the good in this situation but it will happen for you.

Once again I wish you the best and to feel well.

I have two friends who had gastric bypass and both were miserable for the first few/6 months, regretted the surgery and then after six months they both said they would do it again. I figure that's fairly standard for gastric bypass.

Feel better and hang in there.

I had this problem for quite a few ( like 4 or 5 months) after my RNY ! It eventually went away. Never did find out exactly what it was however when I was in the hospital my blood sugar drop extremely low like in the 30's quite a few times. I bought a home diabetes monitor kit and noticed when I felt like that my sugar was always really low. Eventually I started to feel normal again and it went away. I didn't have diabetes or pre-diabetes prior to RNY either. 7 weeks ago I had major plastic surgery (8 hrs in the OR) the feeling came back!!! I would get up in the morning go to the bathroom and feel dizzy, clammy and like I was going to pass out! My husband would sit me down and give me a half a banana with some Peanut Butter and within minutes I felt back to my old self! So I assume again it's my blood sugar too low ! Something about having the bypass and subsequent surgeries must upset my blood sugar!!!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
