Disappointed, discouraged, depressed ????

Recommended Posts

I have been doing my Liquid Protein diet since July 16th. I've had all of my tests done my psych eval lab work and everything done. I got in all the required support group meetings. So, today when I went in for my doctors appointment I was expecting to get a date for my surgery hoping it would be within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Well it turns out my surgeon has had a family emergency and he is trying to get his visa so that he can go overseas. So now that puts everyone on hold of course the people that were before me and now me and those that are after. They gave me an appointment to come back on September 11th. I am not a happy camper I am so so upset of course I left the office crying and was bawling in my car. I have been so motivated until now I lost my 10 pounds in the three weeks since I had seen him. I guess I had just mentally prepared myself to be having the surgery before the end of August and now it's not going to happen. Sad sad sad ????????????

I completely understand your disappointment and frustration, I'm sure I would be inconsolable if this happened to me. The only thing I can say is that I truly believe everything happens for a reason, and I'm sure your surgery will happen when it's the right time. Unfortunately, the "right" time in this scenario is directly influenced by your surgeon's personal life... Just keep doing what you're doing, eating right and changing your habits now. By the time you have surgery, you'll be a pro! Keep your head up.

That is a bummer.

Here's one idea ....

Perhaps you could continue with your current diet until your surgery starts?

Assuming you're not in danger (?) of slipping below a BMI that's an acceptable one for surgery, you'd have that much less to lose after surgery. And your weight loss would show your commitment to the process and could (?) if you lobbied this right get you put at the head of the line when the surgeon's office is trying to figure out how to reschedule you and all those other people whose surgeries now have to be rescheduled.

You can also consider switching surgeons. Depending on where you live, there are usually more than one or two bariatric surgeons available. Granted, it's a big switch, and upsetting, but may be worth considering.

consider switching surgeons.

@@Meli65

your situation - what a bummer

surgeons office called me 2 weeks prior to WLS and postponed for one week - i was a basket case :o

@@mwestcons took the words out of my mouth telling you to "consider switching surgeons"

most doc groups have other docs to fill in case of an emergency like this

everyone can't just be put on hold???

but as mentioned - work with the rules you will be following in your new life w/the sleeve

you are getting a jump start by learning to live/follow/start your new life

surgery will happen, just gotta wait a bit

please stop crying - no more kleenex  ;)

"God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It"

good luck

Thank you all for your kind words. It's nice to know ur there for me. There is another surgeon that works along with mine and they are going to see if he can fit some of us that will consider him into his schedule. I am all for it. I am just ready to GO and get this done!!!

But I will stay on track and continue to do my exercise and continue to try to lose weight as much as possible. As upsetting as this all may be I know I need to be positive and realize that there is a reason for all of this.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
