Please Share Post-Op Diet

Recommended Posts

Hi. I had my sleeve on July 31. Started the post-op liquid diet on August 2. I'm on my first week liquid diet and already sick of it. I had a 2 weeks liquid diet pre-op, and I'm so tired of it already. I want to cry everytime I have to drink the same thing. I'm supposed to drink 2onz of liquid every half hour. Including 4onz of Protein which I hate and make my stomach feel weird. I which I could drink something else than broth, juice or Water. Please share what you had on your first week! Thanks.

It's hard to share, because everyone's surgeon's/nutritionists have different plans :(

Just follow whatever your doc has told you. It's hard at first, but it does get better; hang in there.

I had my sleeve on July 24, and will reach 2 weeks post-op tomorrow. The diet has been a drag, especially since I was on liquids for two weeks prior to surgery. I am having a very difficult time staying hydrated. I live in a very dry climate, and now that it takes me 3 hours to drink a 20 oz. bottle of Water, it's almost impossible to take in enough. I cannot do the Protein shakes anymore, they will not stay down. I can't even look at them without being nauseated. It seems as though that all the Protein drinks are sweet, and that is tiresome. I have found Isopure, which is a Protein Drink that comes in a 20 oz. bottle and is the consistency of flavored water, It has 40 grams of Protein per bottle. There is one particular flavor, apple melon, that is a little tart instead of being so sweet, and I can tolerate it better. It will get better! Everyone I talked to who had had the surgery warned me that the first month would be the worst. I know a few people who have had the surgery that are now in months two or three, and they are doing much better. So, hang in there, we can do this!

I was sleeved on the 29th. I'm still on clear liquids until tomorrow, then I'm on full liquids for two weeks. I'm just drinking broth, gatorade, Water and Popsicles.

Thank you all for your support. I already started the full liquids diet, also some pures. So far so good. I went today Protein shopping and got some samples from Vitamin Shoppe. I'm feeling much better :)

I was on liquids for 34 days. Protein Shakes (Muscle Milk, Premier, Syntrax Matrix, Syntrax Nectar, Garden of Life). Also added Unjury unflavored Protein Powder to every broth, cream Soup and bisque I could find. Diluted and strained any of the cream Soups that had little chunks in them. It's all just part of the process and worth every sip and spoonful.

I like muscle milk, and Atkins . I did Soup, and added Protein to them all. Just make sure to dissolve the protein first and do not add while it's hot. I made sugar free cooked pudding, and it's wonderful!! You cannot taste the protein. I used Unjury. I also got protein Water at bariatric eating.. It's not bad. My staple is instant real potato with boullion or gravy. You can thin it out and it satisfied my need for something savory.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
