Hello everyone! Ok, so I'm now under the 400lb mark...127lbs lost since the middle of March 2014. I'm at 398lbs now. About the dairy and Beans, I get MAJOR GAS-farts after eating cottage cheese, milk, anything dairy. The same goes for beans-ham and bean Soup, bean burritos, etc. I suppose this is normal?, but I may be lactose intolerant. I feel like before surgery, milk affected me slightly but not enough to worry about, that and the fact that I have a sibling that's lactose intolerant. I think surgery kicked it into "high gear". The question is,... can I take something like Lactaid or Beano before having dairy and beans with out any adverse interactions with my Vitamins and or stomach? Is anyone else having this prob?

It's absolutely normal, Mr. Esslinger...I had the same issues at one point with anything in the dairy family. To help, you can indeed take the lactaid pills or something similar to it. I myself took the generic version at first to see if I could handle it...they worked so well that I stuck with them, and now I don't need them as mush now that I'm 6 months post-op. Now my issue is I get gas from taking Fiber chews, which I need to combat minor constipation...a small price to pay for the relief that I'm getting!

Congrats on your surgery, and I wish you the best of losing!!!

try adding a little vinegar to your Beans when you cook them. it helps reduce or eliminate the problem.

I took Lactaid OTC pills, drank Lactaid milk & ate the cheese for the first year postop to combat the lactose intolerance issues. There were no problems with Vitamin absorption.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
