How long did you have to stay in the hospital? Scheduled for surgery on 9/2 and i am starting to have alot of anxiety about being away from my two yr old son.

I was in the hospital for 1 night. From what I have read, barring any complications, 1-3 nights is around the average amount of time. This may also be based on surgeon's preference. Have you asked your surgeon what he/she expects?

I was in 2 nights which is what my surgeon told me. My insurance only approved one night originally but he got it extended.

I was in for one night. Went in very early - 5:30 AM - on Tuesday. I was home by 3:00 pm on Wednesday. I had an RNY, laproscopically with no complications. Good luck!

I stayed 3 nights because my surgery was schedule for the afternoon and it didn't happen until 5. And that was a Monday and was discharged on a Thursday afternoon. I could not wait to get out of the hospital. I think it all depends on the surgery and when you also pass gas. I also had my period the day of my surgery :(

Wow that would suck to have ur period at the same time. I haven't spoke to my surgeon yet about the average amount of time but I think it set in today that I was having surgery and would be away from my son and kind of had a melt down. I will probably have a harder time than he will lol

You are def going to be miss your kid but don't worry you will be in and out in no time. It totally sucked when I had my period but later found out that a lot of women get it right on the day of their surgery or the day before. I was on a 10 day liquid diet before my surgery so I think at probably due to that and body changing. I will be praying for you and your quick recovery. If you need any help let me know.

I have a 2 yr old son and 4 yr old dd, I had to stay In hospital for 3 nights went Friday, my surgeon said I could go home on Sunday but I elected to stay one more night as I was very sore and afraid the babies would be climbing all over me to soon. We all co -sleep. My husband brought them to see me everyday though 2-3 times a day, we sent videos and talked on the phone, I missed them very much but they were the reason I wanted wls so as a 40 yr old mom I would be able to keep up with them. Don't worry you will do fine and your son will not remember you being gone once your back home. :)

A fellow co-sleeper! I probably won't know what to do with myself actually having a bed all to myself not hanging half off the bed. Lol my son is the reason behind me doing this to. The hospital I will be staying is about 40 minutes away so I'm not sure how much he will be there to visit but u r right we can Skype (try to figure it out), talk on the phone and send pics. Those things will def make us feel better.I am hopeful for a quick recovery. I known my surgery is soon but I wish it was tomorrow so i didn't have to obsess over every single detail anymore. Maybe it will be better when I start my fast and then I'll be obsessing how hungry I am! Two week fast is going to be rough. Then I thought about it if two weeks is super beneficial for surgery maybe three would be even better. I just hope I can do it. I know my surgeon was not pleased with my weight and said I can't gain anymore.

In my program, all 3 surgeons tell everyone to expect to be in the hospital 2 nights.

I had surgery at 7AM on Tuesday and when the surgeon came by to check on me Wednesday morning he told me I could leave as soon as I could arrange a ride (that took most of the day as everything had been planned for a Thursday release).

But with all of the medication, monitoring and walking, I never had enough down time to miss anything/anyone. Had I needed to stay that 2nd night it could have been different, but I can only guess.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
