Trouble with bowel movements

Recommended Posts

Take magnesium oxide. You will have to experiment to find the right dose for you. I started with 2000iu a nite.. It was too much..so slowly cut back.. I am taking 800iu a nite and have never been more regular in my life. Also worked for my daughter who has had bowel problems her whole life..

OMG! I have had problems with this also. I am 10 weeks post-op and I have to take Dulcolax every other day or so. Nothing else works. It's very frustrating. I never had this problem before. This has been my only downside.

I just filled my Rx for miralax, $41 later! Anyway my PCP used to prescribe this to me when I was younger and it worked. I'm hoping it does the same this time around because the Docusate sodium, (colace), just isn't working.

What helped me after surgery when I was constipated is prune juice. I hate the taste and I really struggeled to drink it, but it helped.

Now I just start my day with fruits, mostly peaches, and so I go regulary. Lots of veggies and some fruits in your diet will make a huge difference. I was lucky and cleared for fruits very early out so I only had to deal with Constipation for a few days.

Just got out of the hospital. Surgery went very well, but poop has not. Haven't had a BM in 8 days. Don't even feel like I have to go. I guess I better call the doctor in the morning and ask what to do. Have others gone this long? Also, is drinking lots of Water the key? I am and have never been a big Water drinker so getting a lot in is a chore for me. I'll try a combination of liquids and see what this does. Thanks for advice on the BM thing.

@@salem244 hi! I'm glad your surgery went well, yes I went almost 10 dats without a BM. I tried colace, miralax, you name it. The only thing that finally kicked in was milk of magnesia. Yes, the key is too stay hydrated, if you're not a big Water drinker try a mix in like crystal light. I personally have been drinking lots of G2 Gatorade. Best of luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
