Eating/drinking makes me sick UPDATE!

Recommended Posts

**UPDATED 8/18/14**

The mystery has been solved. I developed a hiatal hernia and diverticulum since my sleeve in May. I'm so glad I know what has been causing me pain when I eat and drink. I will now have surgery to correct it. Not crazy about another surgery, but looking forward to feeling good again. I've been suffering for over a month with this.

So i'm about 10 weeks postop. For the last 2 weeks i've been struggling to eat and drink. I get stomach spasms, and when i try to eat it feels like it gets stuck in my throat. After I attempt to eat solid food I get super nauseated. One time i vomited. The only thing that doesn't make me feel bad is a Starbucks nonfat mocha.

I'm dehydrated, have a UTI, and my nails are brittle because i'm unable to take my Vitamins.< /p>

Don't know what i should do, but i'm miserable.

Maybe consider calling your surgeon? At least take care of the hydration issue and Vitamins. Drink whatever you need to to get your liquids in...I know Starbucks non-fat mocha probably has more sugar in it that you should have (much to my dismay), but if you're dehydrated, do what you need to to get liquids in until you can get in to see the doctor.

Good luck and I hope you feel better.

I second what @@InfiniteButterfly said. This is an issue for your surgeon. You might have a complication such as a stricture, or you might just need to go back to your previous phase for a while, or something else might be going on -- but it's your surgeon who needs to check you out. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I will call today.

I called my doc 2 weeks ago and the nurse acted like it wasn't a big deal. She said it sounded like reflux, and that i should take Prilosec twice a day, and Hyoscyamine every 4 hours.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
