Need help combining O.A. (Overeater’s Anonymous) with my WLS for the emotional support.

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else working OA with their WLS? I am looking to see if there are people working OA (Overeater’s Anonymous) and the 12 step program of OA with their WLS.

I have always found OA to be incredibly supportive and helpful in learning to deal with my food issues, my emotions and my overall addiction to food. I really want to incorporate OA in my WLS journey but can’t seem to find combined OA and WLS support. Any information would be very much appreciated. Does anyone go to meetings that are supportive of their WLS? Any phone or online meetings that have been supportive? Does anyone actually have an OA sponsor they work with post WLS?

That is an excellent idea...I haven't been to an OA meeting in...well...decades...but that seems like a good plan... I wouldn't think WLS and OA have to be hand in hand in the meeting...the OA just gives you some of the added support you need... I may look in to it as well.

I go to WLS meetings here, but I am struggling and need some additional guidance... I like your idea very much!

:D ;) :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
