Depression issues-bipolar-after surgery

Recommended Posts

I had a visit today with my pre-surgery counselor today....she suggested I ask if anyone out there is bi-polar and how they are dealing with the emotional issues after surgery....Can anyone tell me how they dealt with this?

thanks

Hi I have bipolar, I had my sleeve done in dec 12 and 6 weeks ago revised to a bypass . I've had no emotional issues at all. The only thing that has happened is that my medication has pretty much been halved

Hi, I've also got bipolar. No real emotional changes thankfully. No changes to meds either. I was sleeved 22 April.

I was more afraid of the size of some of my pills, but none of the docs said it was an issue.

I'm bp with OCD and anxiety. All controlled for the most part. I still get depressed. That hasn't changed. Maybe not as often. I had an emergency incident last week. They called it an accidental overdose. The question has been brought to my attention are my meds too strong due to the 61 lb loss??? I take lamictal seroquel, Prozac and 4 mgs a day Xanax. A lot of highly potent meds.

Hi Paul

Curious why you had your sleeve revised to bypass?

kimpossible (my name is kim also ) .... that is very scary ... I take lamictal, Zoloft, and Xanax...also 4 mg a day...I will be certain to keep an eye on that ... I've been on medication for years and my bipolar is controlled...I just don't want it to become "uncontrolled"

Thanks Everyone for the feed back ....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
