A little over a month out and stopped losing.

Recommended Posts

Ok, my starting weight was 208 and I'm now 188 and I've been here for almost 2 weeks. My surgery was June 9th. I am grateful for a 20 lb loss, for sure, but I'm also concerned I am not losing.

I am a server so I am moving alot and my diet is very clean. I haven't started doing T25 yet but will start next week.

I am having a hard time getting my meals in.

Any suggestions.

It's not a stop, it's a "pause for the cause" episode. Your body is in shock, you've lost a lot of weight so fast that it doesn't quite know how to disburse fat and utilize energy right now. Keep doing what you are doing and shake it up a bit. Now may be the time for you to push to eat a bit more or eat something that is allowed but seems sinful like toast. Maybe push yourself with exercise or something like that. This is also the normal time that most people have a "pause" so don't fret. Count it all joy!

Thanks. I do keep hearing about these stalls but didn't know how long to expect it to last or how to help bust out of it. ;)

I had a two week stall. It sucked. Immediately after the surgery all the fluids come off and it is magic. But then the body is all "OMG WTF just happened to me? Hold up!" It takes a bit of time to figure things out!

Stall happen and when they do, they can be long. I started out at 217 lbs, a few lbs heavier than you. I stall for about a week every month, my longest stall being 2 weeks so far. You'll get over the hump if you continue doing the right thing.

There's a whole subforum for your question. Post it here.....

That link doesn't work for me.

Go to the main forums page and look for "Don't Sweat the Stall Stuff" under the General Weight Loss Forum.

it's likely a stall, i agree. no big issue.

our bodies have gone from total joy of gut fulfillment to these little amounts, our metabolism is learning to work with what it has available.

it's just a 'pause for a station break' sort of thing while your body catches up. i'm going through it right now a bit too. hang in there and just keep doing your program!

I think all of the advice here may apply to me as well but here goes....I'm at my 2 month post op and finally no pain from incisions, yay! and I have passed the mushie stage and have started to go back to my normal diet prior to surgery. My norm was vegan, vegatarian, paleo mix with fish, chicken and turkey....Anyway, I went to weigh in today and only 3lbs. lost in a month. I have started walking 4 days a week but feel like "what did I do?" I haven't been able to eat any more or different even though I have added my much antisipated salads and WallaWalla onions....

Isn't it kind of early to have a slow down or minimal loss soooo early on???? I'm glad I lost something but yet dissapointed that it wasn't a huge amount....And is this the way my loss is going to go unless I go back to the Soups and mushies?

I actually gained three pounds at 6 weeks out. Took a month to start losing again. I never regressed to earlier food stages, I just kept following the plan and didn't worry about it. In fact, I increased my food and Water intake and eventually started losing again. Early stalls do not affect your long term success...I am 12 pounds below goal.

It's really pretty simple.....get in all your Protein, water and Vitamins, follow your postop plan with healthy, well balanced meals and Snacks, STAY OF THE scale, trust the process and you will lose. It's not a race.

It's always great to hear other people's journey. I seem to see these great, amazing end results and I get discouraged and wonder if I'm going to fail. So many emotions in the beginning.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
