Experiences with Phentermine?

Recommended Posts

Not sure if anyone pays any attention to this forum but on the off chance someone does.. I was wondering if anyone has tried Phentermine as a weight loss tool and what their experiences with it were?
I have a friend that has said if she knew about Phentermine before she had her VSG should wouldn't have had the procedure and just took her time using that product to lsoe the weight. I've read of the possible side effects and they are pretty unnerving.. though no more unnerving than the unknown of having surgery.
I took it for several months. It can be addictive and it caused dizziness & me. When I started it made me feel good, curbed my appetite, and lose weight, but not long afterwards, the side effects kicked in. I was told to use it no more than 3 months.

I took Phentermine for several months before I decided to have surgery. It helped control my appetite for sure, but it also gave me mood swings, dry mouth, & completely killed my sex drive.

Ditto on most post. Initially it worked great! However it’s an upper, as such expect to be wired, nervous, on edge, easily angered and unable to sleep. It’s a short term solution to a lifestyle problem. If you can’t change your lifestyle weight comes back with a vengeance. I don’t recommend it.

I lost quite a bit of weight on it , like 30 lbs in 3 months. Then when I went off it I gained 50 pounds back!! Yikes!!

I took it prior to the surgery. Major major mood swings (made life with me difficult for others). It worked at first then its effectiveness decreased. Once you stop taking you have to adjust yourself and prepare for having your appetite and cravings come back with a vengeance. I am glad I went ahead with the surgery as it is a better tool in my opinion.

I’m currently taking phentermine. I haven’t noticed a huge difference-maybe about half the time it lowers my appetite about 10-15%. I’m on a relatively low dose (10 mg) so perhaps that’s why?

Interestingly, I haven’t taken it the past few days and my appetite had been off the charts high. I also have encountered several side effects, nothing horrific but things that I’d prefer to avoid. My plan, if my team agrees, is to take it up until the time of surgery in a few weeks and then stop.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
