Medicaid (Colorado) -- is approval hard?

Recommended Posts

I have been told the exact guidelines for meeting the sleeve requirements (monthly Dr. visits for 6 months, psych eval, nutritional consult, BMI, etc.), and was wondering if anyone knew if getting approval through Medicaid was either lengthy or hard/denied often?

I'm working on revision surgery via Medicaid with the same surgeon. I know that they require the 6 month supervised weight loss for initial surgery. I don't have to do that for my revision, and once I get my pre-op things done, they told me around 7 days for Medicaid approval, which is very quick!

Dr. Snyder has a great team and it has been my experience that his coordinators are knowledgable and will tell you pretty straight up how much of a battle you will have with your insurance. Have you talked with them yet?

Good Luck!!

Yep, I've talked with them (Victoria) and they seem on the ball and informative. I think I made a great choice with them. They told me that for both Medicaid and the Veterans Administration, approval was doable (although I'm going to politely disagree about the VA; approval with them on almost anything is impossible)

Just FYI. The doc submitted to Medicaid last Friday and had approval by Tuesday. Im scheduled for Tuesday at 9am.

I looked on Dr. Snyder's website and it said they don't take Medicaid as a primary insurance. Did you all have Medicaid as your primary?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
