I had VSG with hiatal hernia repair on the 1st. I know I'm only 3 days out, but I will take one tiny sip of anything, even the lortab, and my insides go crazy! It's like there's a monster in my belly who is wriggling around and rumbling about and is very upset with me for taking a tiny sip. Anyone else experience this and have any notion of when this might subside? I feel like I could be doing a better job on my Protein and hydration if all this internal action would settle down a bit.

That sounds horrible. Good luck to you. I took the liquid pain meds last night for the first time, and it made my stomach spasm uncontrollably. Nothing else had caused a reaction like that. If you're unable to contact your doctor today, maybe try easing up on the meds? Maybe that will make your sensitive stomach feel a bit better? Sorry for your troubles. :(

Very, very, very normal behavior. You must remember that someone went in there and cut out 85% of your stomach. Wouldn't you be a little monsterish. I know I was. Not to mention all the crap they put into your body. It has to come out and of course they put air in your system to blow it up so that they could get to your stomach. Soon you will get gas. And air coming out of both ends and then diarrhea. then you will be able to drink more and then you need G2 to help with Electrolytes, or coconut Water.

And on and on. Don't forget buyers remorse....Some fun eh Bambi!!!!!

Just don't let it get you too upset. It will all pass. And soon you will be lovin your sleeve. I promise!!!!!!! :)

After surgery, your stomach is going to be swollen. That plus the small pathway to the pouch at the bottom, with every sip or bite the air in the stomach has to escape. Thats why they stress on very very small sips and bites. For the most part the grumbling and gurgling will slowly go away over the next week or two. But for me it still happens when I eat any kind of liquidy foods. (Chile, soups)

Hey sweetheart..... welcome to the losers bench .....your tummy is like a newborn baby ....if you think of it like that because that's exactly how it behaves it won't seem a strange ....it is going to be very very noisy sensitive and highly disagreeable.....

You are in the extremely early stages of this process and it's very very sensitive .....it is important that you follow your doctor's orders and continue to feed your baby Tummy and take tiny tiny sips one right after the another based on how your tummy tolerate it.....three months from now you won't even remember this drama.....good luck....

Thanks for all the replies, y'all. I just discovered last night that if I stand up and drink, the spasming and burping are enormously reduced! There's still some discomfort, but not nearly as much. I may be able to get a good amount of Protein and Fluid in today! Yay!

My tummy couldn't handle cold drinks at first. I couldnt use ice or the rumbling would start, only room temp or warm drinks. For a tiny, little tummy it sure can growl!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
