I am not afraid to be honest. My trigger food are sweets but I do have it time to time in moderation. I don't even have such cravings to be honest. Last night I was out and my friend ordered flan and I wouldn't touch it but my friend kept insisting to try and I had one bite and I stopped. I didn't like it too much cause it was too sweet for me. And with ice cream I was never too crazy about it before and even now I am not too crazy about it. If I crave it, I get the skinny cow or weight watchers ice cream. I like puddings but just the other day I found this Chobani indulgent mint yogurt with chocolate chips and I had one serving and it was good and it was healthy. But if you put chili or dessert in front of me, I will def eat chili and fill up and never get to the dessert. So everything in moderation is the key!

I don't think "ice cream" is on any surgeon's list of permitted foods during the "full liquids" post-op stage two.

Anybody know different?

You are right there is no ice cream in the early stages. I didn't read that part early on...my bad! Sorry!

I wasn't telling her it was on her surgeon's approved list but it technically is a FULL liquid. It mould be up to her to make good choices as it is for all of us when we are on this journey.

You know it's not on the list because it's not a healthy choice for people trying to make a significant change. It's high fat, high sugar and high calorie, and for most a huge trigger food... I am not advocating eating it, But if you ate it is not going to hurt your new stomachs incision line. As a nurse ice cream is often given to people on full liquid diets because it's easy on the digestive system, but once again probably not a good choice for someone who has just had a weight loss procedure.

My daughter, her husband and my grandson came to visit for a week in July. When they left they texted me that they had left some Hagen daz ice cream in the freezer. I had a bad day and ate the 1 1/2 pints of ice cream in one night. Ice cream is not a trigger food for me, it's the nuclear bomb button. Keep it away.

Put it down and walk away. Don't look back.

Ice cream is not your friend. Not only is it way too early to introduce ice cream, it's what helped you get to the point that you needed WLS.

I had to address my unhealthy relationship with food as I suspect most of us do/did during the first couple of months after surgery. Ice cream would certainly fall in that category.

And remember...Just because you don't get sick from eating something doesn't mean you should eat it.

The reason why I said sorry was because I didn't read the part that person just had their surgery recently. I think it's ok to have things in moderation but if you think eating something will trigger you to eat more than don't eat it. Very simple. I have never in my life have ever finished a tub of ice cream nor know anyone in person that has. For me my problem was making unhealthy choices. 4 months out I do treat myself to things I enjoy like an ice cream sandwich that's made by weight watchers or skinny cow. Now do I eat lots of them in ones sitting? No! Do I eat one every day? Hmm no! And do I eat it once a week? Yes at times. But I don't deprive myself from it. This is not a diet but a lifestyle change. You know your body more than anyone. So if you think if you eat something and would want more than either learn how to control yourself or don't touch it at all. It's all about checks and balances.

At 8 months post-op, I still can't do ice cream. It causes me to vomit - so I simply avoid it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
