So at what point did you start to lose the Water weight gained from the IV fluids? When they weighed me in the hospital it showed I gained about 7-8 pounds. I'm just curious when that went away for you

Hiya!

Got sleeved Monday 8/25/14, wanted to say hi to all the August sleevers!

Still just 3 days post op and feeling pretty good. Actually a little hungry today.

My incisions are sore but I'm healing faster than I expected, thank goodness.

Keep up the great work everyone...we got this! We are tomorrow's success stories!

Anyone in southern ca want a sleeve friend?

Well it's Friday morning... Things are slightly better. I came to a realization last night when I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible nightmares and a headache from heck that it couldn't be the liquid pain killer because I haven't had any. Come to find out.....I have been missing my dose of Xanax, I googled withdrawal symptoms from Xanax and it had every single symptom I was having. Headaches, nightmares, remembering bad experiences from the past, hyper sensitivity, impending sensation of doom or death. NOT GOOD! so my husband crushed me up a Xanax, I took that along with the liquid pain reliever. I woke up this morning with no headache, pain is more tolerable. I am still sore and bloated like heck but I am hoping things get better from this point on. I need to get me a pill box and out the meds in I need so my husband will know which meds I need to take. I don't even know if they gave me the Xanax in the hospital. What an absolute horrible experience. It seems so stange to me that when I talked to the doctors office yesterday that they didn't mention any of this to me or question me about what meds I was taking. Gas x does work and I don't know why the doctors don't recommend taking that from the beginning. As soon as I read that on here and started taking that it worked. I am happy to hear most others are not having major issues. I am sorry for posting so many issues the last few days.....I was at a loss and was feeling horrible and I didn't know where else to go or what to do. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR REPLIES AND SUGGESTIONS. you all helped me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. ❤️❤️❤️

Hey you have to let me know how it goes!!!! I have been wondering about that. I am a CNA for Hospice and I will be back to work next week which will be. 2 1/2 weeks after my surgery. Have been nervous about going back to work, but can't afford to be off longer. I also work 8pm - 8am 12 hour shift overnight..... Please share your experience with me and any tips about going back will help.

Last night went pretty well overall. I ended up having to do some CPR on a patient 30mins into my shift and I didn't feel sore afterwards. I helped with some boosting and turning, but not a whole lot during the night. Being a CNA I would imagine you may do a lot more of that, I just lucked out last night was pretty quiet. I did begin to feel slightly sore and tired come 3am and took some Tylenol which helped the achyness. So that would be my suggestion, bring pain meds! I kinda wish I requested to only do 8 hr shifts my first weekend back, but like you I couldn't really afford to be off much longer. Good luck!

I thought I had it bad, bless u! Liquid meds was my best friend as it might be to strong for u.. Did u try taking half the dose? I had it hard drinking anything my first week, then I realized I should try the Protein Shakes and that's when I began feeling better.. Good luck and keep me posted

I am doing much better ijones67. I am able to keep liquids down ands take my meds by pill form too. I got all my protiem in yesterday but feel short on the 64 oz of liquid total. I literally sipped all day ands still came up short. I am moving from sipping 15 cc to 30 cc every fifteen minutes. Hopefully that will help me get through the day

Well I got out and about a bit. Had to go to the grocery store. My head is feeling somewhat normal today. Did some light housework. And some walking. Going to try some chicken broth and picked up some frozen Greek yogurt will try that a little later this evening. Hopefully things are getting in the right track. Thank God I took two weeks off from work and thank God my husband was also able to take some sick time to be home with me. I don't know what I would have done without him.

I had my sleeve on Monday August 25th. I have had pain ever since they took me off the pain pump at the hospital. I cannot tolerate the liquid pain meds it gives me Migraines and very vivid dreams. Having major problems getting in any medications. Doing my best at getting down the fluids. I have only had one Protein Shake today. I am at a total loss and I am scared to death that I will not feel any better. Was anyone else given a binder at the hospital to wear?

Hi, my surgery was also 8/25. I feel exactly as you do. I did get a binder and it helps me a great deal. I can't wait to be over this pain period. I feel so helpless in this process right now...

Hey everyone! Had surgery late the 26th and was dismissed for the 5 hour drive home at 9:30 the next morning. Never needed pain meds but did take some liquid tylenol the night got home. Could only drink warm stuff until today and can drink room temp now. Can hardly wait for what the future will hold!!! Good luck to those of you having difficulty

Ok guys, I need advice. I had the sleeve on the 12th August, post op I lost about 2-3lb per day after 10 days the weight loss stopped and I've lost nothing for the last 8 days I've lost nothing absolutely zilch ! I guess I was perhaps a relatively low starting weight of 245lb, I'm male and 182cm, currently I'm 222lb, I'm walking / jogging for 30 mins in the morning before work and walking home from work every day (about 45 mins). I have kept a food diary and my average daily intake over the last 10 days has been : calories 650, Fat 16g, Carbs 44g, Protein 80g, drinking 2ltr of Water a day, taking all vits etc. So pi$$ed off right now ! What am I doing wrong ! I'm trying so hard at this and sticking to all of the rules :-(

Everyone talks about the 3 wk stall. That may be all it is. Supposedly your body needs to rest from losing and it puts on the brakes somehow. I'm betting you'll see more come off next week, and other people have said they feel their clothes change greatly during the week where they stall. I've seen people suggest that upping Proteins, but you are already exceeding in that area... hopefully the stall is all it is!

Are you sure you're not just building muscle? Did you take measurements before your surgery? Either way I would start tracking your inches. Sometimes the scale may not go down but the inches will as muscle weighs more than fat.

Same here, johnsydney. I lost a bunch in the beginning but then went almost two weeks without any changes. It's frustrating to be eating so much less and not seeing any changes but today, the scale finally moved again. There's an entire forum section dedicated to stalls and one around the 3 week period is pretty common but somehow, it's way more frustrating when it happens to you. ;) Hang in there!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
