Me too!! Gotta be there at 7 and surgery at 9 :) Good luck and prayers for everyone having surgery tomorrow.

listen to the nurses. First few hours bad but wen I tell u it gets better it does. The second day I thought I needed to stay another day but by 3rd morning I was up got dressed by myself and was ready to go. Take ur gasx if u have it, the hospital will give u theirs at first ask for it if u need it. Just hang in there gonna get better. Just 7 days out and my family is already noticing the difference in my figure, I don't but they do. I am so excited. Good luck with everything.

As I read through posts everyday it amazes me how different some of the requirements are on diets for everyone. I see where some people had to stomach puréed food before they left the hospital, some where they have to be on liquids for a month (I couldn't handle that), and then for me just liquids this first week. Tomorrow morning I get my clearance to start my puréed diet. I am so excited to have something other than broth or yogurt. And to whomever questioned never having chicken or turkey again? That's a first for me. On my puréed diet my NUT gave an example as chicken puréed with lite mayo. She just said if you eat chicken dark is moister and whatever it is make it moisty to go down.

On a side note, OMG the cravings for different tastes of food. I have been making my husband gourmet meals and fancy sandwiches just because I have food on the mind. I watch him eat it as my "fulfillment" lol. He feels horrible d doesn't understand how I can do that and not eat it. I chop it up to some mighty good will power. Of course I have been making healthier stuff for the family too.

I know eh? I was on liquids for a week, then on to the soft pureed stage. A little tip...mashed cauliflower is actually kinda hard to get down. I made some home made apple sauce and that's much easier. I'm just anxious to get some fibre into my system.

I have a question for everyone. What kind of Vitamins does everyone take? My doctor gave me a bottle of the Bariatric Advantage multi with Iron. I am suppose to take it 3 x a day. The capsules seem so huge to me, I am scared it will get stuck if I swallow it whole so I open it up and mix it. I have only managed one a day though and this is why. When I empty the capsule I swear it's like a whole teaspoon full, and then by the time I mix it I have to take two or three bites to get it down. So the. Is like a whole meal, I can't choke it down like that three tîmes a day. It tastes so disgusting I just don't know what to do.. I wanted to get ideas of what other people are doing. And if anyone has the same vitamins do they swallow it?

My surgeon wanted either chewable, crushable, or liquid on all meds and supplements, and as you know, some are pretty gruesome. For a Multivitamin I use Centrum chewable for adults, a sublingual B-12, a chewable iron, and a liquid D3/calcium.

I am taking Flintstones multi Vitamin (yes the kids one) and Calcium and B12 twice s day. That is one of the easy ones. There is a Bariatric Advantage vitamin that is chewable but you have to take it 4 times a day. . All mine are chewable. The Flintstones was actually suggested by nutritionist. Can't be gummies though.

I don't recall feeling that thirst preop. Maybe it's the Protein Shakes? I feel more thirsty being in the liquids since my surgery but you now have to time the Water.

shakes still don't full me up still hungry. Anyone experiencing this? Wat can I do. No purées till next week.

I understand what you mean. In the full liquids stage I felt like I was constantly "eating" and drinking. But now that I can have pureed meats, I fill up so darn quick its unreal. I found SF Jello and SF Popsicles helped thru the full liquid stage to help with that "hunger" without many calories.

ok I am constantly drinking drinking still don't feel that restriction I started to think my surgeon didn't do it right. So I guess I am not alone. Thanks for responding. My purée is next week. Can't wait.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
