Brand new to the forum, but would like to ask a question that I'm sure has been asked 400 times. I'll be 4 weeks post -op on Friday and was wondering when the discomfort in my port area will be gone. I walk 3 to 4 times a week, but would like to lift weights and try more aggressive exercises.

I'm 7 weeks post op, but have been lifting since week 3. I have port discomfort every once in awhile. I actually made it really tender bending over to pick up laundry, it was so bad, i didnt lift for 2 days.

from what i've read, some people never really encounter much post discomfort, and some are always aware that its there. i'm thinking i'm going to be one who always knows its there.

i go home after the gym and put an ice pack on it and take some ibuprofen (Nurse practitioner ok'ed ibuprofen) and that seems to help.

The more weight you lose, the more you will notice your port. Mine was uncomfortable for about a month after surgery. At a 91 pound loss, it's uncomfortable, but in a different way. Directly after surgery, it was uncomfortable because....well, I had just had surgery & was healing & it was a new foreign object in my body. These days, it gets uncomfortable if I sleep on it wrong or my pants get pushed up under it just the right way, it'll aggravate me. For the most part, I don't know it's there anymore. It may be tender for a day after a check-up just because my surgeon likes to push & prod.

I wouldn't do any other kinds of exercise until your doctor clears you for it. How does your incision site (where the port is) look? Is it healed completely? I don't think they released me until one month post-op. You'll be back to hitting the weights in no time. Best wishes.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to the doctor on the 30th, so maybe he can determine if it's healing normal enough to exercise more.

Hello Folks,

This is my 6th week out. I am still uncomfortable after my first eating of the day. Dr. just says the usual hype. Can hardly drink Water, after taste, no mater what I put in it.

Any suggestions????

Surgery was sleeve.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
