I had gallbladder out for years. Just had the surgery done on Thursday. Ask for a nausea behind ear patch and nausea meds during surgery and after. My doctor kept filling me up with anti nausea which so helpped. Just tell your surgeon and the nurses. They will keep you on the anti nausea.

Also I had a huge hernia repair which in the long run will help with nausea as pre-surgery I would get nauseated all the time.

Prior to leaving the hospital ask for a nausea med that will go under tong.

Hope this helps you. Let me know if you have more questions as I am in recoup mode.

Omg! I am so excited to relate to someone! Lol! So did u get the sleeve, if so how has diarrhea/nausea

sleeve surgery 11 months ago. no more running to the bathroom. (in all fairness, it only happened in the morning the last 7 years or so). i have struggled with Constipation. as long as i take my konjac root (a Fiber supplement), eat oatmeal couple times a week, dried fruit, yogurt, stay hydrated i am good. still happens 2-3 times a month usually.

I had the sleeve. Since so soon after surgery I have yet to have a bowl movement, but have lots of gass. I have been walking around like I am post pregnancy :) well it feels like that. I am hoping to have bowl movement soon.

How long after surgery did it take to have a bowl movement?

Had my gallbladder out about a year and a half before sleeve. I had lots of irritable bowel issues post gallbladder removal---diarrhea, "fecal urgency" ick. Never had a solid bowel movement ever.

Six months post sleeve now and sleeve cured all that. Haven't had those issues since! If anything I have the opposite problem now, like many sleevers. Constipation unless I am good about taking my Benefiber in my Protein shake daily.

As anybody had there gallbladder out pre sleeve? I'm so worried about being more nauseated and having diarrhea. I had severe diarrhea since have gallbladder out and just worried the sleeve will make it worse.anybody have good or bad experience like this

I have had my gallbladder removed and I too had severe diarrhea. I went to my dr. And she put me on Welchor. I have been fine every since but I am worried that after surgery I will not be able to swallow large pill.

I had sever bathroom probs similar to dumping syndrome after my gall bladder, too. Did lots of research and it seems that it's from the extra bile flowing free since it's no longer stored in the gall bladder. I found a website that suggested taking calcium citrate pills. Apparently it binds the bile to itself. I'm no doctor, but it took less than 2 weeks of taking a Calcium pill at each meal and my symptoms went away. Got my sleeve in March and still no bathroom issues (other than some sever Constipation at week 4...resolved, thankfully).

Had sleeve surgery in October and had my gallbladder out 4 June as a result. Biggest problem is Constipation and when I finally go, watch out. However, I'd take constipation problems any day over the gallbladder attacks.

I had my gallbladder removed and started slowly having bowel issues. I was told it was because I was/am lactose intolerant. I don't carry the enzyme to prevent attacks with dairy products. Once I got sleeved, I don't have those problems because I have cut out some of those gas producing products. I now mix lactose soy in my Protein drink, eat babybel cheese, and other things so as not to have an episode.

Hopefully, things will change for you too!

I had my gallbladder out in 2006, no issues with diarrhea then. Post-sleeve surgery? Well...when the only thing you take in is liquid or mashed, that's pretty much what comes out, and it's normal (according to my CRNP). My surgeon often recommends getting the gall bladder out and the same time as WLS if patients still have it. He said it can make things easier.

Since having my gallbladder out I was having diarrhea so bad the dr put me on meds to stop and I still take today. Just wondering how it would affect everything already going on! Just don't want it to be a disaster that I regret because it's so permanent! Having second thoughts dde22

I think you will be fine… I had my gallbladder removed about two years before my surgery I also was on the meds. I now have the opposite problem now. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
