Top 10 things you want to be able to do after the surgery

I read something similar on the post op side but I wondered what were the top ten things/ goals some of you have for your post op self!

Mine

10. Go swimming in the ocean without feeling like a whale

9. Go to family get togethers without small kids staring at my chubbiness

8. Shop at actual stores with confidence.

7. Be able to eat without feeling like the world is staring at me.

6. Look in the mirror and see a face and body that doesn't make me depressed.

5. Take 100 selfies and love them. As of now I have maybe 4... Total.

4. Ride on an airplane. Won't do it now. I'm sparing myself the embarrassment.

3. Buy panties ( SEXY ONES) from a normal store that fit.

2. Go on a vacation as the "healthy Mal"

1. I want to stop lying to my husband and kids. They want to go to amusement parks and cruises...and I tell them I'm scared of heights... When I'm not... I just know I won't fit on the rides and it makes me feel like a huge failure...

You girls are all very brave! Good job putting it all out there. :) I have to agree with all of those things. Plus........

1) run a 5k. I mean run it, not walk

2) go to the doctor and not dread getting on the scale.

3) not sweat through my panties and shorts when its hot outside (this should be #1 maybe LOL)

4)feel good about how I look when I ride on the back of our motorcycle

5)not feel like the fattest woman in the room

CROSS MY LEGS!!!!!I forgot that!!

I have not yet met with my surgeon for initial consultation. I should be expecting a call middle of next week to set up the appointment. Here is my top 10:

1. Be a beautiful bride on my wedding day.

2. Be healthier and take less medications.

3. Have more energy and motivation to live life.

4. Exercise and be active without being in constant pain or feeling like I am going to have a heart attack.

5. Shop for clothing that is not plus size.

6. Feel like I am pretty enough for my boyfriend (he tells me I am perfect just the way I am he just wants me healthy).

7. Not be embarrassed about the way I look in public.

8. Be able to feel comfortable sitting on a chair not feeling like I will break it and wear a seatbelt that is not so tight I can't move.

9. Be able to do things without being breathless.

10. Wear sexy clothing.

I am sure there is a lot more that I would love to be able to do.

1. See my labs get Better every year, not worse.

2. Undue the damage I've caused to my son as I've taught him by example to overeat and use food for comfort; learn to eat healthy together.

3. Be finished with yo yo dieting forever.

4. Give my judgmental mother in law the shock of her life when she sees me thin.

5. Blend in with the crowd when I'm in Europe where all the women under 60 are thin. Right now the only country in which I can buy clothes is England cause they are fat like Americans :)

6. Be free from the thrall of food. Eat to live.

7. Ride my horse in the monthly neighborhood horse show without everyone feeling sorry for my poor mare.

8. Buy a pony because I really want a small horse and hopefully I will be light enough to soon.

9. Make my Iron Man finisher father proud.

10. Not make the ski lift chair tip at a dangerous angle, worry about fitting in the zipline harness, fit into the kayak, etc. Just be able to do normal recreation and sports.

1) Fit in an airplane seat, roller coaster and in any seat in Fenway Park.

2) Being able to walk a flight of steps without dying.

3) Regain my confidence

4) Not hide when someone tries to take a picture

5) Not have to approve pictures before someone wants to post them on social media

6) Be able to watch my niece grow up and hopefully find someone to make her some cousins to play with.

7) Lessen my mother's worries about me

8) Be able to look in the mirror without being disgusted

9) Shop off of the rack

10) Get out of the "friend zone" with women. Being the "Sweetest man in America" (her words, certainly not mine) just isn't cutting it anymore.

10. Shop and know I will fit into the regular sized clothes.

9. Take group pics w/out hiding in the back

8. Take family photos that I will be happy to display

7. Go to the beach and feel sexy

6. Workout at the gym w/o cringing at what I see in the mirrored covered walls.

5. Go to a water park with confidence

4. No be the fat friend in the group anymore

3. Try out paddle boarding, surfing and snorkeling.

2. Go on that honeymoon after 18 years of marriage

1. Have my husband actually desire me.

For those of you who have 'to not sweat so much' on their lists:

I lost 120 pounds since last year. This is the first summer I've ever looked forward to and I've been so COLD! I've lost all my insulation! Lol

  • 3 weeks later...

1.see ppl that I went to high school and middle school with and not be embarrassed

2. No longer having to do the "pinch and pull" to my shirt when I sit down bcuz it gets caught under my belly

3. saying good bye to thigh chaffing

4. Smiling w/o seeing a double chin

5. Getting rid of my fat clothes

6. Shopping at the mall in normal stores

7.having comfortable and versatile sex

8. Putting on my shoes EASILY

9. Making a plate of food or eating in front of ppl and not feeling embarrassed

10. Getting dressed or shopping without feeling depressed but feeling SEXY instead!!!!!
