    Still on the fence

VSG surgery has been around for a very long time. It was originally used for patients with stomach cancer and other major stomach issues. It is less invasive/life altering than gastric bypass. I had my surgery in August and have lost 60 of my 100lb goal. I really didn't have any serious obesity related issues before my surgery except difficulty walking. I am so very happy I had the surgery. I don't snore any more and I can walk much better. I would suggest you research how long and for what other reasons people had VSG and then make up your mind.

I don't have issues with fluids. But I do still have problems with some foods it seems the denser the food the less I can eat of it. do you still have any discomfort on any of your surgical incisions the one by my bellybutton is still rather painful at times. Michele

Hello ONMYWAYTOHEALTHY, you've lost about 50lbs and if I haven't misread many of theses letters, that about what everyone has lost on average. Don't be so hard on yourself, just get back on the horse. Good luck! Michele

    Had my surgery!

Your grands mean well I am sure and they're advice works for them. But you need to follow your doctors advice. Be patient, you will go through plateaus. But stay the course. If you have cravings don't refuse them just practice moderation. Your on a life long journey not a sprint. I have lost 30 lbs and am now stalled, I think my body needs time to adjust to this weight. From what I've been told this is normal. But I can now take my dog for a walk, yeah me! Good luck and keep in touch. Michele

Yuk I had frothing a few times. I actually had to purge to get it to stop. It's from bEing overfull or eating too fast. It's the protective covering in your stomach.

Hey fellow August sleevers. Just want to report I am doing well. Lost 29 lbs from beginning of pre op diet, down 2 pant and top sizes. Been walking almost a mile every day (I need knee replacements). And did 10 minutes of seated aerobic exercises. I feel good. Learning how much and how slow to eat. Bowels are better. As someone else said "this is not a race but a journey". I'm glad I'm on it. Hope everyone is happy with theirs. Ps I'm 65 yo.

GAAAH! I only have 8 weeks to prep!

Please don't give in or give up. Surgery here in US is usually an overnight deal. While it is a life-changing experience most of the initial change is how much you can eat. It's a pretty common surgery used for years with people who have had stomach cancer or bad ulcers so it is a tried-and-true surgery. I was sleeved August 25, 2014 the worst thing that's happened to me was gas and constipation/diarrhea. Good luck and don't take much to the hospital. Michele

    AUGUST 25TH HERE!

I also got cleared for regular food small quantities and full exercise. good luck on your journey. I find the hardest thing is not clearing my plate I'm 64 years old and I was raised with that you were supposed to do that.

One of the toughest things for me is not cleaning my plate. Flash back 60 years to my grandmothers table.

Hi all, sleeved 8/25. I've lost about 19lbs since surgery and I'm ok with that, but I think I'm at the stall. I'm better at gauging how much I can eat so that's a good thing. I think I am getting heart burn again (had it pre surgery). I go to the doctor 8/24 I hope he says I can do full exercise and no food restrictions. I was really surprised at how unprepared I was for the change in my ability to eat. It's one thing to be told, but the experience is another thing. Continued success to all. Michele

    Calling All Sixties!

I am having the issue of psychologically wanting to eat more and physically not being able to eat more than an ounce or 2 at a time. Trying to figure out getting the protein in. Today I am trying New Whey liquid protein diluted in water. I also get that foaming if I over eat, it's happened 2 times and I had to purge. I was sleeved 8/25. Hoping I get this figured out soon. I've got 64yrs of bad habits to unlearn.
