Very first (and hopefully last!) dumping experience

Recommended Posts

I'm one year and one week out from surgery and hadn't ever dumped. I wasn't sure if I would but never tested my limits to find out. I always stayed far away from sugar and simple carbs. Today I had a small can of B&M Baked Beans for lunch. About ninety minutes later my heart started racing, I was shaking, I felt nauseous, my stomach was cramping, I felt like I was having hot flashes, then I barely made it to the bathroom in time. I spent the next 45 mins in there, feeling miserable, before I felt like I could return to work. I was flushed, shaking, and weak for another hour before I started to feel normal. I am NEVER touching B&M Baked Beans again!

On the plus side, my insides had a good cleaning out.

So it CAN still happen. I am with you, I have not dumped, but have not tested the limits either. I have had small amounts of all types of Desserts and even candy over the last year, but in very small amounts. I would bet that if you just had 3 or 4 bites of the Beans you would have been just fine. We ate all still learning!

Thank you for sharing. Glad you are feeling better!

Thank you! I'm glad it happened! The unpleasant experience is a strong motivation to stay away from sugar and simple carbs and reinforces my determination to make healthy eating a permanent life-long habit. :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
