Reached personal goal of 100 lbs gone in under 1 year

Recommended Posts

WOW, I did it! I have reached my personal goal of 100 lbs gone by 1 year. I had my sleeve surgery on July 26, 2013. I still have 30 lbs to go, but this is the moment for me!

I often get asked would I do the surgery again. OF COURSE, I would. If I had to do surgery every year I would do it. NO DIET WORKS. It has to be a lifestyle change (yes, we have heard that before, but did we every believe it?). I spent years thinking it was my fault I couldn't stay on a diet. It was my fault I couldn't keep the weight off. Well guess what? It isn't my fault. Without the surgery I can't even think where I would be right now, probably spending $100s of dollars on a diet plan that "works" for a short period and going off of it because I am too hungry. And then gaining more weight because my body is in "Feed Me" mode because I starved it.

It is soooo wonderful to be off that roller coaster! When I tell people "I used to be hungry all the time" they just can't comprehend what that means. Unless you have been in my shoes, you don't understand. But you do! We are the only people that can understand what it means, how it makes you feel and what a struggle it is.

So, my next goal is to take off the 30 to reach my total goal. However long that takes, is fine with me!

Happy Friday!

Joan

Congrats to you.

Ok, we all know very well that diet works but how does it work better with the surgery? I'm getting sleeved on Monday and I honestly don't get the difference of before and after. Please do not take this as an attack, at all, but I would love a deeper explanation.

Sassypants92201,

The difference is that you have a high dollar tool that is helping you. It takes all of the guess work out of it. As long as your follow protocol with your diet, you will lose. I don't count calories. I had my surrey, March 10, and have reached my first goal. I would like to lose another ten pounds, but I'm happy right now at this weight. Just remember, Protein first, veggies second, carbs last, if you have room. I've never had room for the carbs, plus carbs make me crave other junk food. Therefore, I stay as far away from them as I can. It gets easier with each day. The tool will help you not only lose the weight, but keep it off as well.

Happy Losing,

Mississippi Girl

p.s. break up with food now, before your surgery.

Sassypants92201 - sure, I'd be happy to explain a little more. I am using the term "Diet" to represent all the diet plans I have been on and off of for the last 40+ years. Given my experience, "diets" don't work in my case. If anything, I probably have gained more weight being on and off diets than I would if I had never "dieted" in my life.

What I have now is a lifestyle change. I have guidelines I follow, but it not a typical "diet" plan. Does that make sense?

Congrats!! It is such a liberating feeling, isn't it?!!? I remember how I felt when I hit 100! It's crazy to see how easy it was after the sleeve to get that 100 pounds off! You can make that final 30!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
