Hi! I'm going to my doctor tomorrow to have

My first talk about having the sleeve done. When I was reading about what they will cover there was a lot of criteria to meet. BUT one thing that I noticed was the word or in there. Example it said:

You must have a BMI of 40 or higher

OR

Have high blood pressure

High cholesterol

Etc .

Does that mean if I have a BMI of 55 that I don't have to have any other issues such as diabetics or blood pressure issues? Just something I was pondering.

Yes. If you are over 40 BMI you do nt have to have comorbidities to qualify for surgery.

Interesting.... Are they more likely to try and deny me though if I don't have those issues?

No, your BMI is all they need.

I'm sure the Doc is gonna want to check you out anyway and with a BMI of 55 you probably will have a few co-morbities. Kinda goes with the territory. ;)

I have high cholesterol and depression. I go to the doc a couple times a year for check ups so as of the last visit that's all I have.... Which is enough for me. My cholesterol was only a little high though. That's why I was asking if BMI would be enough....

I would not be surprised if they want to test you for other stuff, anyway. Have you ever been screened or tested for Obstructive sleep Apnea? That's a biggie they usually look for, for example.

BMI above 40 is enough for your insurance, though. :)

I thought I put that in there too. ( I have 5 kids running around right now!!!) I do have mild sleep apnea. The doctor said it was very mil, but he did put me on the machine.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
