Yes... Cutting back now is a good idea. You don't want caffeine withdrawal a long with postop recovery. I cut back for about a week. I started my preop diet 3 days ago and have had no coffee. I've had some headaches and been tired but I'm sticking to it. Good luck!

Has your surgeon or dietician told you whether you can have coffee after surgery? Not all of them prohibit it, so check with them before cutting back. You might not have to give it up!

Contrary to popular myth, coffee will not dehydrate you but there are other legitimate reasons a surgeon might want you to cut back or limit intake . . . so check with yours to be sure beforehand.

If you already know you are going to have to go without coffee after surgery, yes, definitely wean yourself off it now IMO. You really don't want to be struggling with caffeine withdrawals as you come out of surgery (spoken as a diehard coffee drinker who had to give it up pre-surgery and was MISERABLE!).

My understanding is that the acid in tea and coffee can cause ulcers and complicate the healing. May not be accurate but makes sense. My surgeon says no ceffeine for 8 wks post op and then in small amounts. I did find out today that Decaf is ok! Will make it a little easier since I've been drinking tea instead of carbonation.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
