Here is my post-op shopping list:

heating pad

flexible ice pack

liquid tylenol (they make adult strength)

chewable or liquid gas-x

a few books or movies

comfy clothes (loose waisted pants or jumpers)

squishy pillow for car ride (guard against seatbelt)

a sports bra (doc said no underwire for a few days)

protien shakes

flavored water

make sure you have a good blender

I bought a drink mixer for the protien mix (cost $10 at walmart)

broth or stuff to make broth

sugarfree popsicles and Jello

sugar free gum (ask your doctor)

sugar free breathmints (ask your doctor)

Some doctors allow cream Soups within a few days, make sure you have a good wire strainer.

*Ask at your pre-op for the pain med prescription so you can have it all ready to go when you get home, our walgreens has to order liquid pain meds and it takes 3 days to get them.

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I am from the Quad Cities, and I was wondering if you know of any docs up there that provide fills to other doctors patients? I was banded in Colorado, not Mexico. Thanks!

PM sent! ~Mandy

We are happy to provide band fills at our clinic in Oak Brook, IL.

The phone number and location are listed on our website, Synchrony Health :: Home

Dr. Duane Tull is the surgeon there and he is banded himself. Most of the staff is banded as a matter of fact.

I visit that clinic several times a month as well.

Sonia, I'm so happy that the phone interview went so well. Is there at least a time frame for the face to face? When are they looking to fill this position? I'm going to miss you, can I come to IA and visit? Or will you make plans to still come here and visit for a lunch every now and again? I really hope this works out for you. ~Mandy

Hi all...how is everyone. Oh

~Sonia - I'm happy for you. I've never met you in person...just through reading but I'm glad to know things are working the way you want them to.

~Mandy - Nice bike!!!! Merry Christmas girl!

I'm doing good....little pain at the port but that's to be expected. I am noticing that I am extremely cold now. I've always been cold natured but I'm even colder the last few days!!! Sticking to the post-op diet pretty good. Today I did get the urge to nosh...I wanted a cheestik or something! I got some Water and got over it. I'm on the road to recovery just taking it one step at a time and deal with the kids at the same time! That in itself is a feat!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
