baby spoons and small bowls

Recommended Posts

Hi! Before I got sleeved May 1, 2014 I thought the idea of using babyspoons was crazy but I honestly think it's been so helpful for me. It insures that I take small bites reminds me to eat slowly. I noticed that when I have eaten out at a resturant I am overwhelmed when they bring me my big bowl of Soup so I often ask for a smaller bowl and spoon to make me feel more comfortable. I like to finish what is in front of me so I portion out what I want to eat and have the rest packaged up for later. I continue to not be hungry - thought I get cranky and then I know I should eat. Really I love being sleeved, down 21 pounds so far and feeling great! I love reading people's posted and get inspired everyday.

I bought really cute small forks, spoons, bowls and plates from Crate and Barrel and I must say, I too am having a similar experience. YAY for using small stuff :)

I saw a really useful tip on YouTube recently:

Buy a set of collapsible silicone measuring cups and take the appropriate sized one (according to where you are in your post-op diet) to a restaurant with you in a baggie. Then you can measure out the food you want and put it on a smaller plate. The measuring cup gets collapsed, wrapped in a paper napkin and goes back in the baggie.

I thought that was a very neat idea, so I'll be buying a set.

I use a baby spoon, a Hors D'oeuvres fork and a 1 ounce shot glass to drink out of LOL I'm only 11 days out and this helps me with Portion Control. Per my doctors instructions, I'm to have 1 ounce every 15 minutes, so this helps me.

Great write up on how to adapt to eating slow. I need all the good ideas I can get. This is one area where I have concerns. Surgery on Wednesday. When you get cranky its time to eat, love it. Are we related?.:) Keep up the good work.

I say, whatever works! Still using a baby spoon every once in a while too. It slows me down! :)

I've attached a picture of my Crate & Barrel dish, spoon and fork (hope the attachment works). I added the Bracelet partly to indicate size, but also-- the egg shaped charm was my goal bite size when I was starting out. I can take bigger bites now (though I probably shouldn't). That charm helped me stay on track.

Thanks for posting the Crate and Barrel small utensil idea. I immediately went out and bought some and also purchased some very cute colourful bowls as well. Perfect!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
