Do you feel weird telling people exactly how many pounds you've lost?

Recommended Posts

I only do that because it's funny and I don't feel like talking about my weight or how much I've lost all day all night. After awhile it's all people want to talk about with you and my mind just needs a break. So I make a joke to end the conversation. It's okay to dodge a question it doesn't automatically mean you haven't accepted who you used to be. Anyway I'm more concentrated on who I am today than who I was 10 years ago. ;) That girl is long gone.

Aw, this is why income on here so often. I love all the humor, support and compassion. I think making peace with my past will set me free, but I'm still getting there. I think saying that I lost a small person or making up a ridiculous number like 5lbs or 250lbs might be a jokey way to dodge the question from friendly curiousity,

I'm only 3 months out and have anxiety about eating in front of people. I eat too much then make trips to the bathroom. It sucks but I'm working on it!

I can agree with all of y'all..people are SO NOSEY!! ???? and they usually guess waaaayyy more than what you've actually lost but because I'm in a stall right now I think no one cares or notices ???? this journey has been way more emotional than physical ????????????

Hmmm ... I had not anticipated this specific question. Perhaps I'll say:

* I don't know.

* Don't you think that question is a little rude?

* How much do you weigh?

* I lost a bit. But mostly, I lost my patience for idiots like you.

(Well, that was fun. :))

Yes Yes Yes! I hate to tell the total number! Everyone asks....people I barely know! I am only about a month out and have lost about 27 to 29 lbs...depending on the day. I feel totally comfortable announcing it on this sight because I know we are all in the same boat. It's safe. But, telling everyone who asks is extremely uncomfortable. And....when you answer that question the next question they ask is "how much do you want to lose?" and then the comment "I never would have guessed you were that overweight!" Good Grief! I work with 90% woman....and lots of them....you tell one person and by lunch then entire building knows your business. Then I feel like everyone is staring and talking about me. Being over weight almost my entire life I was basically invisible.....bigger than most, but invisible to most. That was safe. Now I feel very vulnerable. I have never, could never and would never ask someone something so personal!

Vsgann great responses! I think its rude, as rude as asking someone how much do you weigh or how old are you or how often do you have a bm...I mean really...like touching a pregnant woman's belly. Some people have no manners. I hate the question, how'd you do it? Or what are you doing? I don't know how to answer that one without telling everyone my business. Maybe one day I'll be comfortable saying I had wls, im just not there yet.

I don't mind telling them the number, I hate the question "how did you do it?" I give the answer "Life style change" it is true but not all true.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
